If you look at the latest SBC basketball release you'll see some changes.

1. ULM has now asked to be called ULM on first reference. No more UL Monroe or Louisiana-Monroe. The Sun Belt has complied with their wishes. they are ULM. Period

2. UTA has now asked to be called UTA on first reference. No more UT Arlington or Texas-Arlington. The Sun Belt has complied with their wishes. They are UTA.

3. The Ragin Cajuns have been asked to be called Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns or Louisiana on first reference. They will use LA as their abbreviation. The Sun Belt has complied with their request. No more Louisiana-Lafayette or ULL. They are Louisiana.

You can call everyone what you want, but this should put that name stuff to bed as far as where these schools are headed with their respective brands.

People like to joke around about the branding and I get it, it gets under certain people's skin but if everyone would realize how much it would help the perception of the conference if every team in it had a distinct recognizable brand...it helps everyone. Looks like we are all going to be together for a while, this is a step in the right direction for everyone. You are perceived as the people you are associated with, everyone of us should want to be associated with schools with strong brands.

As I have said before it's always nice to say "Well we thumped Louisiana last night". Finally glad you got the SBC office on board.

LA? I get using Louisiana but this ones new. I was used to typing UL. I guess if they go with LA over UL, people are less likely to say ULL.
