Looks like we are recruiting JUCOs like crazy. Here is a G/T from Garden City CC

His twitter originally said Dec grad, now says May grad. He also says this is his 1st year playing OLine. Seems OK, but you'd think there would be better, more experienced Juco OLinemen out there ready to go.

Only offers are Coastal and Wagner. Seems like a reach to me.

Still working that Canada angle. Raw, but obviously great size, pretty good athleticism. Get him some good coaching from Bullough and should definitely be able to plug him into the DL rotation. Worst case 10-15 plays for depth. EMU his only D1 offer so you'd think he'd be jumping on it?

Agree. I don't know, but maybe 2018 red shirt candidate to get into FBS shape and coached up to American football.

I'd think he would have a fairly high ceiling.

As a football parent told me years ago, recruiting good FBS DTs is very hard esp. at this level. (I guess that is because of rotations so many are needed, as compared to the OL which doesn't have much rotating).

Sorry. My question is: How heavily are we now recruiting Garden City C.C.?

Are we in on a lot of their players?

RE: 2018 Football Recruiting
It seems like emu is trying to plug immediate holes with Juco players in the early signing period. Does this mean the second signing period will be mostly high schoolers? Just wondering if there's a strategy to this thing.

I would think so.

Apparently more and more mid-year JUCOs are out there so teams are going hard for them.

I would describe February signing period as more Plan B recruits. I'm assuming that all of the kids who verbaled early and visiting this month will sign next week.

As I've suggested in previous posts, I would not be surprised if EMU doesn't give it most of its available scholarships next week. I'd guess the number will be determined by the number of prospects who say "yes".

Nunez seems to really be working hard on the recruiting trail. Need more like him.

That second recruiting period is probably when you're going to see guys with 1-AA and II recruits get flipped up to MAC schools. Div II schools put off offering for that exact reason.

You may also see kids that are hoping to get a Big 10 offer slide to the MAC. Reality can be tough to swallow.

EMU offers a JUCO (Kansas) DE/LB. Think he is a Miami, FL kid.

Long and athletic, but very slender for a DE at 6'6 225. Could be a developmental player with a payoff if he could put on 25 pounds.

Could play on the EMU MBB team. 03-lmfao

I looked at his highlights and guess that he is really a stand up def. end.

Agree that with weight he could have some of the potential of Maxx Crosby. Both have that long, lean body with quicks, but he needs, as you indicate 25 lbs to get to at least 250.

Lot of questions. If he is a mid-year JUCO, maybe they can get him to gain 15 lbs. during spring semester. If he is a summer transfer, then maybe he redshirts and tries to gain 25 lbs for 2019.

Think you are right, Nickle.

By COB Dec 22, all of the cards should be on the table. No recruit can really help his status between then and six week later. (this is different than say MBB where the recruit can play his senior year in h.s. or his year in JUCO and improve his stock).

I would suggest that recruits hoping for a P5 offer and doesn't have it TODAY, will probably look at G5 teams for February.

I'd suggest the the dynamics of the Feb signing period will be crazy with probably most schools having a limited number of scholarships so recruits will have sleepless nights.

BTW, I have been monitoring Tweeter and have not found any new verbal commits.

Believe we are still at 15 as indicated at the top of this thread...

Detroit News has their top 60 h.s. FB prospects. We have a few and there are a few who could be possibles (e.g., Howie, Vines, etc.).

RE: 2018 Football Recruiting
Take it with a grain of salt, ot course, but as of this morning, 247 ranks our recruiting class 6th best in the MAC. That's also missing a couple commits too, so our score should be higher than what it is.

And again, these recruiting services rankings often don't actually reflect the strength of the class. But it's a positive sign we are doing better than usual on whatever metrics they use.
