This is the last weekend for OVs before the 'dead period' (or whatever they call it).
Wonder if it is a numbers game: #OV > #LOI open?
Or if it more "If we like you, we will offer you?"

I had us with 3 for Feb with Grissom and Mackey on board sometime before the 2018 season and the grad transfer at quarterback now it appears we have 2 more slots one for the fr wr one for Bailey I see two juco wrs and one for defensive back or tight end

We have plenty of scholarships for our needs. We just lost a couple guys, and there is other dead weight that the staff could 'encourage' to leave if they had another player or 2 they really wanted to add.

And one never knows about players who haven't cracked the 2-deeps after 4 years (and hopefully a degree).
As we see with UofM lot of them opt to go elsewhere for PT. UofM's Harbaugh has an explicit policy that the 5th year is not guaranteed to the player.
For these kids they need to decide: Stay and maybe/probably ride the pine OR transfer to a lower level and finish their college careers with more PT.
GLIAC is an excellent option for MAC/EMU players from the Midwest.

RE: 2018 Football Recruiting
This local player's recruitment has been a mystery to me. He seems to get the kudos in the recruiting articles but I don't see a lot of FBS love going his way.
https://www.thedzone.com/players/matt-harmon
Don't know if it is accurate, but it appears Kent State is his sole FBS OV.

Truly odd. Obviously the 2016 offers from Kentucky, Cincy, Minnesota were not commitable or he'd be signed. His actual Nike verified height/weight is 6'6, 185!
Skinny, skinny, but his HUDL shows a really good athlete at 6'6. In his first 10 highlights he plays DE, WR, Safety, LB, CB and QB! He's the type of kid you bring in, redshirt, and develop over time. Not many kids 6'6 with that type of athleticism and versatility.
Must be grades or something? I'm assuming our staff has talked to him up close and personal. I'd certainly take a chance on him if he's qualified. Would be sad to lose him to Kent, unless he just wants to get out of Ypsi and away from home.

Interesting that he is apparently from Gibraltor, MI (about 30 miles from Ypsilanti).
BTW, the one thing we don't know is how much good weight he can gain. Will he grow into a 215 lbs body or be another Timmy Bond who can't a pound for the life of him.
6' 6" 215 WR who can run and catch are hard to find...

The key is the that it is the players decision I don't believe CC and staff chase off players

He doesn't chase them off. But it is known, that if you're a 5th year Sr., not in the 2 deep, and you've got your degree, EMU is likely done paying.
Looking at the roster, the only guys that may fit that bill might be Lion King and Lemar Harris. Not sure about their special teams contributions, or graduation status. Will be interesting to see if they're both still on roster after semester over.

Just moved down to 6, from 5. Would like to see 5 or better in the final rankings.
This is better than the 10-12 ranked classes from years past.

What we are seeing, I think, is the alignment of performance on the field and recruiting.
On the field is getting better and so is recruiting.
Things looking up.

Harris was ranked as a 3 star so much for recruiting services

We are hitting the JUCOs very, very hard this year and that's fine by me...
I have no problems with a class which is say 40 - 50% JUCO/grad transfer, etc. and the rest high school players who can redshirt a year.
By now the staff knows how they will need to fill graduation/loss holes via redshirts, JUCOs, grad transfers, etc.
