Who goes to what bowl?
Ok, we have 6 spots. We have traded Hawaii in the past so we'll see about that. Here's where I see folks going....
New Mexico - UTSA
New Orleans - MTSU
Boca Raton - WKU
Bahamas - ODU
Hawaii - UNT
Dallas - La Tech
Where do you think your team will be?

I think ODU ends up in New Orleans and MTSU is either back to the Bahamas or to Hawaii. Otherwise I think you have it right. This is barring UK somehow ending up in the Independence Bowl, in which case I think WKU tries it's hardest to get there too.

ODU is almost certainly going to New Orleans, but I am shooting for the Military bowl due to proximity.

RE: Who goes to what bowl?
HOD, BOCA, New Orleans will be filled by...Tech, Western and ODU . I would guess that is about 95% at this point
The only thing that would change that, if a better bowl is offered to the CUSA champs.
Who gets Boca and New Orleans will most likely depend on the out come of Western @Marshall. Western wins and we take Boca. Marshall wins and I think ODU will want Boca
Middle will most likely get Hawaii even if it means another bowl game their fans can't make. At this point it's probably a good ideal because with the way their season has turned out...would their fans attend any bowl in large numbers? So you save them the embarrassment by sending them to Hawaii.
UTSA with a win over UNCC gets New Mexico . If not UNT most likely gets that bowl

I'm not sure why you'd want to play Kentucky.
Win? Who cares, you beat them the last two times you played them, they went 6-6(in all likelihood), and lost to a middling CUSA team.
Lose? They beat you when they were 6-6 and you were 9-3, possibly 10-3 conference champs.
It's a rare case of the instate P5/G5 matchup where the G5 doesn't stand to gain much.

First, we still have to beat UTEP in El Paso....
Having said that, two of these have North Texas in the HOD. I can't see that happening at this point. I'm thinking the C-USA Champ would have to land in the Independence Bowl for us to get into the HOD.

The main reason ...
more fans would want this match up
anytime you beat the state school is a plus
who knows 15-20 years from now uk might be decent and our fans can point to how we owned a team that is winning in the sec.
I personally want Boca no matter who we play...I need a week vacation and a good reason to make a 15 hour drive getting there

RE: Who goes to what bowl?
The only way the Heart of Dallas Bowl doesn't get La Tech is if Tech loses the championship game and WKU (or ODU) picks it first (although apparently the champion isn't guaranteed their pick, but C-USA will try its darndest to make it happen). Any bowl projection that doesn't have one of those three in HOD I automatically reject as irrelevant, and I think WKU or ODU might pick Boca, anyway.
I guess people that put UNT in HOD are thinking "well that's local" but they clearly don't understand C-USA.
Here's my guesses
HOD: La Tech
Boca Raton: WKU
New Orleans: ODU
New Mexico: UTSA
Bahamas: UNT
Hawaii: MTSU
If Southern Miss gets the APR nod at 5-7, might end up in Arizona.

Kind of a cheap shot, but, hey, I happen to agree with you
Fan base enthusiasm is pretty low right now. Nobody expects many fans to make it to a Hawaii bowl anyway due to the cost. Reward the team and give us some good weather to watch on television.

If the HOD was open, why would UTSA not pick it over the New Mexico Bowl? I would be willing to bet that UTSA would equal the attendance of UNT. With it being the 1st bowl in school history.

RE: Who goes to what bowl?
My understanding is that the C-USA Champ gets their choice of the bowl games. I have never heard anything about any of the other teams getting to pick where they go. I believe those decisions are made by ESPN and the bowls. To my knowledge only the winner of the LA Tech/WKU game could claim the HOD. If the Independence Bowl is open to C-USA, then the champ could choose that one instead of the HOD.

It won't be open.
Technically speaking, no one officially gets to pick their bowl game. C-USA tries their hardest to get the champion the bowl game they want and they usually are able to. After that they work with the other bowl partners to create the best matchups.
The Heart of Dallas Bowl (and Independence Bowl if available) provide the best opponents (B1G and SEC/ACC) so they'll want the best C-USA teams to go to those to make the most competitive game possible. Unfortunately for UTSA, they don't quite make that cut. Tech or WKU will fill the HOD (and maybe the I-Bowl). Once that's done, most people think UTSA will be in the New Mexico Bowl because they are by far the closest team to that bowl. It's relatively close and the Lobos aren't a bad opponent in their own right.
As for the New Orleans Bowl, if WKU takes HOD and the I-Bowl isn't available, Tech will end up there. If not them, then either ODU (next best option) or USM (local). Boca Raton will probably be the best available East team (WKU assuming they don't take HOD or I-Bowl, otherwise ODU). That leaves the Bahamas and Hawaii. C-USA doesn't want to send a team to the same bowl twice in a row if they can avoid it, so if MTSU is going off-shore, more than likely they'll go to Hawaii, which leaves UNT for the Bahamas imo.

Expect Brent Stockstill to play in the bowl game. Wonder if that would change anyone's view about where we go.
I think there is a good chance you will see MT request Hawaii or Bahamas (assuming we can't get the HOD Bowl) because it will give Brent an extra week of healing/practice. The HOD would be ideal for us (latest bowl game) but ya'll seem to think we're not worthy to play a 5-7 or 6-6 Big Ten team.

It is looking like there is a very good chance that the HOD bowl will not feature a P5 team this year. If not, I would think that New Orleans, Boca, Bahamas, Hawaii are all more attractive bowl destinations.
