Remember when we all had a nice laugh at the records in this article back in August? Maybe there is some truth to it after all.

Arkansas State (6-4, 6-0 in conference)

Offense wasn't the problem. A problem, but not THE problem.

I keep thinking at some point you guys will realize nobody is insulting stAte, but its just not getting through....

You're the sophomore that rides the pine and only touches the ball when shagging rebounds in warm-ups, that criticizes the senior starter who plays ever minute. Just shut up.

And you're the starter who plays every minute that looks really good against his teammates in practice. Unfortunately the team loses every real game they play.

I may be the sophomore that never plays. But I'm not criticizing the senior starter, I'm criticizing our entire team cause we can't win a game.

Very well said.

I just wish App State could have a crack at Arkansas State. Oh well.

Hats off to A-State.

Our "team" had won more games than in years past. USA over SDSU. USA over Mississippi State. Troy over S. Miss. App State over Akron. App State over Old Dominion. Probably several others I don't remember off the top of my head.

I think some posters see the 0-4 start and are nervous about their ability to show well. It seems like everyone wants to see them do well in the postseason, I know I do, it's just some of us are nervous about their ability to do so. Nobody wants to see another debacle like the La Tech game last year.

The hope is that things have been turned around for good and stAte can represent us well in their bowl game. I think being apprehensive about that is a valid concern though. The posters expressing those concerns don't mean any ill will towards stAte and don't deserve to be attacked.

I agree with you that State's ability to represent well may be questionable in the post season but...........if state wins the conference and doesn't do well, the question then becomes what would you expect from the number two, three or fourth place teams?

You are just too brilliant for us.

We typically play a tougher OOC schedule than a lot of G5s including some in our league. Last year we had USC, Toledo and Mizzou. We usually play an SEC team on the road and not UK or Vandy (they won't play us). When we have played peers we usually win at our place and lose on the road (Tulsa, Army, USU, SMU, Memphis). We had not lost to an FCS since Joe Hollis was coach 15 years or so ago. Our bowl opponents are usually strong because we are the conference champion (#25 Kent St., NIU when they were a powerhouse, La Tech with multiple NFL draftees, 10 win Ball State, Toledo).

We just don't have embarrassing OOC losses. We lose a lot of them but they are not upsets. The difficult OOC probably contributes to our conference success.

Let's see.......winning five titles out of the last six years will do that to a teams fan base. Your fan base was arrogant just based off your FCS success.

Well keep in mind that your first two seasons in the Belt King Karl protected your team from having to play ASU or ULL, two teams that ruled the Belt at the time.

We are doing awful, nice of you to ask but I thought the subject you and I were discussing was Southern's 1st two seasons?

In 14, we would have beaten ASU soundly. You had a bad run defense, we would have ran for big yardage. In 15, I can't really say. It probably would have depended on when in the season the game was played. IIRC, ASU had some key injuries that really altered some of your games in a bad way.

That's too kind. Even our DC who just held 25th ranked Troy to 3 points last night stated that stAte couldn't stop a hard charging marching band in '14.

Seriously? We all agree that losing like we did OOC was a travesty. Then all you guys come over here telling us we should lose a conference game for the "good of the conference". Well just how damn good is this conference if we play like that and then you yokels can beat us in conference? Who's that on? It ain't us. Shut the hell up until you knock us off the throne. Until then you're just pissing in the wind.

We're doing this again? Georgia Southern were champs, no ifs ands or buts. They did exactly what the requirements were to be champs. Nobody else matched them in that. End of story.
