Southern Miss staff encouraged by play of QB Keon Howard
“He’s a competitor and he just has that demeanor,” Hopson said. “The thing I love about him, too, is that he can move on to the next play. A lot of guys can’t do that. A lot of guys are talented athletes, but can’t move on. Keon is one of those guys who can move on. I’m really excited about him, I love him to death. I think he’s an outstanding football player.”

He does have potential. The question is will he have the coaching and scheme to make him successful? The deeper the season gets the more doubts I have.

Often to the sidelines after turning it over.

That is disturbing.

Reminds me of, dare I say, Alford.

he's unquestionably more physically gifted at that position....I still don't know how we signed him (in legitimate terms)

now he needs coaching so AA doesn't happen again....

the comparative lines have been drawn....

Yeah, I wasn't really comparing their abilities. When Alford played it was a lot of the same. Option read right, option read left, QB draw. I hope we get creative with the play calling and use his running as a weapon but not as the first option every down.

Alford did not have the arm Howard has and he didn't seem to be able to throw a spiral to save his life. Howard throws a pretty ball. His biggest problems are pocket awareness and touch. The awareness will come with experience. The touch will take more time. He throws everything like a fastball, but so did Brett.

agreed....

so did reggie....

also, his legs are a sight to behold....mine are as long as his; but half the diameter....

like reggie, once you get 'em moving forward, he's gonna be tough to bring down...
