Damion Lee signed a 10-day contract to play with the Atlanta Hawks. Interesting that it was likely an injury to old CAA foe Kent Bazemore that opened up the opportunity.

It looks like this could be a good opportunity for Lee. They have 3 others guys at SG/SF out with injury right now as well. Seems like he might actually have an opportunity to get some minutes.

Kari Jonssen's team won the regular season championship for the first time in their history. He leads the team in scoring at 19.5 ppg. He as missed the past few games with a broken finger which is why he is not in uniform in the picture. From what I can figure, he should be back for the playoffs.

Can't help but wonder how things would have went with him on the team this year.

After digging around for stats, it looks like he only shot 30.2% from three during the season. Obviously, we would have used him differently than his Icelandic team did, but I do have to wonder if he would have shot well enough from 3 for us to have a major impact.

I believe their 3-pt line is a bit further out than NCAA. The NIT is experimenting with the international 3 I believe. He certainly would have been more of a threat than Troy Harper. Someone who can 63% from 2 and 87% from the free throw line can't hurt either. The additional depth at guard also might have allowed us to play a bit more fast-paced and press.

Damion had a decent debut for the Hawk tonight scoring 13 points on 4-8 shooting in 17 minutes of play this evening.

Bash's Wagner squad got routed in the NIT by Baylor. And not an alumni but from our schedule this year Rider led through 3 quarters at Oregon before giving up an impressive 38 points (outscored by 17) in the 4th quarter to fall by 13 in the NIT.

Looked up former players playing professionally (in addition to Damion). There is a range of leagues. Though his numbers do not necessarily stick out, Elegar is probably playing at the highest level with his team in the top European international competition. Massanet and Goss also played on teams competing in the Europe champions league. Scott Rodgers joined a Panamanian team to bolster their roster for the Liga Americas.

Drexek guys playing abroad:
Kazembe Abif 16.2 ppg, 6.6rpg 1.5apg Team Fog Naestved (Denmark 1st division)
Chaz Crawford 10.1ppg, 7.8rpg, 1.1apg La Union Formosa (Argentina 1st division)
Frank Elegar 9.8p, 6.1r, 0.8a in Eurocup, 12.8, 5.6r, 0.5a in league Lokomotiv (Russia 1st division) - team is in semifinals of FIBA Eurocup
Samme Givens 17.9p, 9.8r, 3.9a Maccabi Raanana (Israel 2nd division)
Phil Goss 11.3p, 1.8r 2.2a in Champions league, 15.2p, 1.7r, 2.3a in league, Paok Thessaloniki (Greece 1st division) - Paok lost in the first round of the Champions League playoffs
Kari Jonsson 19.5p, 4.5r, 5.2a - Haukar (Iceland 1st division)
Frantz Massenet 7.0p, 2.8r,2.7a in Champions League, 8.6p, 1.8r, 2.3a in league EWE Baskets Oldenberg (German 1st division) EWE lost in first round of Champions League playoffs
Goran Pantovic - 10.5p, 7.8r, 2.8a Garveys Tralee (Ireland 1st Division)
Scott Rodgers 14 ppg in Liga Americas- Correcominos de Colon(Panama 1st Division) started playing for team in Liga Americas (Central/South American tournament)
Dartaye Ruffin 7.0p, 6.8r, 0.6a - Chocalates Trapa Palencia (Spain 2nd Division)
Rodney Williams 13.6p,6.6r,0.8a - Fundacion 5+ 11 (Spain 3rd Division)

Another good night for Damion in his second outing getting 14 points on 5-8 shooting in 26 minutes. Saw this tidbit on ESPN: F Damion Lee had 14 points and is the franchise's first player since Paul "Snoop" Graham in 1991 to reach double figures in his first two NBA games.

RE: Drexel Dragons Alumni Thread
there's been a lot of discussion online about the neumann goretti girls because they added a player to their roster for the state playoffs. basically the poster story for why fans of public schools want catholic schools out of the piaa.

i'm watching the 3a final on pcn and the coach of goretti is andrea peterson...a former drexel guard. it looks like she was girls national coach of the year a couple years ago.

love the sucess. i just hope there's a good explanation for why this player was added to the roster. the piaa is already saying a rules change is coming this summer.

UPDATE they actually just changed the rules today. it sounds like you have to play 50% of a team's games to be eligible for the playoffs.

Andrea has been very successful there. She hit a milestone for wins earlier in the year, 100 wins maybe? She has done well and her player seem to really enjoy playing for her. Her leadership on the court has definitely transferred through

Damion is still doing well with the Hawks. He has now played 12 games with averages of 10.8 ppg, 4.5 rpg, 2 apg on 41% shooting in 26 minutes per game. Good to see him being given good minutes to showcase his abilities (even if on an awful team)

Has Drexel hit rock-bottom yet?

Ideally Howard and Spiker will both be successful. Was there ever any indication Howard would've come to Drexel? I can see him having a fairly significant recruiting advantage over Spiker which gives him a chance to be successful right away. It's an interesting test to see what difference facilities make too. Their arena wasn't the best last time I was over there...which admittedly was a number of years ago.

- Howard is apart of the Philadelphia basketball community, and has experience winning two national championships. He's been recruiting in Philadelphia for years.
- Spiker is from West Virginia, and once finished 4th in the Patriot League.

With the Armory turning into a Squash Center, I'd say Spiker is a much better fit for Drexel. Ashley Howard deserves an opportunity to recruit, win, and build a successful basketball program. Drexel is career suicide for an ambitious coach that wants to build a successful program.

the dac is significantly nicer than gola now. they still run nylon banners for sponsors hanging on cement walls behind the backboards, with no seating behind

RE: Drexel Dragons Alumni Thread
Ashley Howard is now 0-10 in his first year as head coach at La Salle. This is a really tough job for him. They are a mid-major type school playing in a better than mid-major conference. Since dominating the MAAC in 1992, they've been mostly awful except for a few NIT trips and that one unlikely trip to the Sweet 16.

I thought I had read that La Salle was considering moving back to the MAAC. That would make a lot of sense, but I'm not sure if their egos will allow that to happen. La Salle won a National Championship about 60 years ago, and they still think of themselves as a big time program.
