Not to be too much of a wet blanket but their only other game was against some dude named Corban. That being said Northern has a chance to match their 7-0 start from last year before they meet Indiana State again and then Minnesota. Those two road games will be a nice measuring stick.
Idaho was a 21 win team last season so they were atleast above average.

Wasn't trying to imply that it wasn't a good win. Only that the statement that it was Idaho's first loss was pretty much meaningless.

Those are really great numbers. Akron was slightly over 2,000 last year. I haven't heard anything in regards to this season.

Their biggest problem with the schedule is that they really are not very good, so it will be a long, ugly road trip with the one home game in the middle.
Makes you wonder why most of those SWAC schools even bother remaining D-I for their sports. They can't compete in basketball, and they can't compete at even the FCS level for Football. Many of the schools would struggle to be competitive in D-II. They are the bottom of the bottom of the barrel. Seems like at some point you would come to the realization that there's no point in fielding teams at that level with the costs associated when you're just getting beatdown every single time.

The ESPN3 online telecast said that Idaho was 3-0 entering the game. Apparently their graphics were wrong the whole game because it even showed their record below their school name on the score at the bottom of the screen the whole time.

WMU gave the defending national champions a pretty good battle today, falling to Villanova 76-65. Margin was single digits throughout most of the second half. Encouraging sign for the young Broncos going forward...

I think next season WMU will be right back at the top of the conference again.

Sadly ... this was no upset, even on the road!!!!
Ohio was favored by a decent margin, and it was rising all week. GT is expected to be even worse than Boston College in the ACC -- yet that league is already talking about getting 10 NCAA Tournament bids ..
The bigger problem for the Bobcats is they ABSOLUTELY MUST run the table to make the NCAA Tournament because this schedule has NOT EVEN ONE quality non-con power conference opponent, and combined with so many home games little chance for the RPI needle to make big jumps.
If the rest of the MAC (Akron, Buffalo) struggles in non-conference, even worse. ....
Ohio and the rest of MAC BB coaches have to come to grips with scheduling. These programs are killing their own product.

I complain a lot about Akron's weak OOC scheduling, but looking at OU's OOC schedule it actually makes Akron's look some what challenging.

BTW, how do the NBA scouts see OU's Campbell? A highly skilled stretch 4?

Is he athletic enough to guard NBA 4's? That's mostly the reason why NDour and Richaun Holmes are in the league. Campbell is more skilled than both guys, but I think he'd get killed defensively. If he were 3 inches taller he'd probably be a lock.

Holmes is the only guy I can think of who's listed college height was always lower than his actual height.

I agree. He needs to develop a lot this year if he's going to be a legitimate NBA prospect. It's possible that he will though. He lost a ton of weight in the offseason and is considerably more fit this year, so he is committed to getting better. No matter what, I think it's safe to say that he'll be making a nice living with basketball next year, I would just be really surprised if it's in the NBA.

How so? Here's Ohio's OOC with last year's results, ranked by RPI-
69 @Georgia Tech (19-14)
77 @Iona (22-10) NCAA Tournament.
128 @Marshall (17-16)
134 Tenn Tech (17-11)
158 @Western KY (16-16)
173 Milwaukee (18-13)
185 Southern (19-12). NCAA Tournament.
187 Sam Houston St (15-15). picked to win conference this year.
278 Cleveland St (7-23)
320 Bryant (7-23) return of former HC Tim O'Shea
two tournament teams, only two teams with losing records, this isn't a bad schedule.
edit: there's also an assumption here that Ohio had the option of scheduling better teams but chose not to. That's not accurate.

I am not buying that GT is worse than BC. Ohio opponents preseason conference picks according to the Sporting News
Sam Houston State 1st Southland Conference
Southern 3rd in the SWAC.
GT 14th ACC
Tenn Tech 4th in OVC East
Marshall 4th in CUSA
Bryant 4th in NEAC
Iona 3rd in MAAC
Milwaukee 9th in Horizon
Cleveland State 5th in Horizon
Western Kentucky 11th in CUSA
Urbana NAIA
I feel like it's a competitive schedule but does lack a little star power. It would be nice to have a 2nd P5 type school on the schedule. In 2017 Ohio is scheduled to play in the Charleston Tournament along with Dayton and Clemson. Plus as part of the football contract to play at Purdue next year is a game at the Convo vs the Boilermakers. Not sure if the Purdue home basketball game is next year but whenever it is the Convo will be rocking.
