MyBB Game Day (a day early): Rochester
We are only 24 hours before the school kids start filing into the Convo for the Rochester game.

I believe it was 'Nickle who always commented on how much fun it was to hear the kids going wild for anything EMU does (e.g., make a basket with the score 20 - 6 02-13-banana). (most of us babyboomer men with the score 20 - 6 make a quick run to the closest urinal 03-lmfao Younger males head to the frig for another cold one).

So for our new kids (e.g., Steele, Brown, etc.) instead of seeing POTUS 43 (George W. Bush) at the game (he was at the SMU game), they will see say 2K school kids.

So they have been through a 93 - 90 heart breaking 2OT loss against an ACC team, a butt kicking from an excellent SMU team in front of a fmr. president and now maybe 2K school kids... #TheEMUExperience (I guess).

RE: Game Day (a day early): Rochester
I just woke up and it is 5 hours till game time already.

Don't know if they are doing the Champions Club but they could do 'Brunch, not Lunch, at the Convo'.

Hope some of our players don't sleep walk through the first half. :(

I don't look forward to a pretty first half coming after two tough games on the road after playing a "NBA schedule."

Here's to hoping everyone stays healthy. About all we can take out of these games.

I think we miss Nazione's ability to score, both in creating his own shot and his outside shooting including the 3. While its early I don't see Madray, LWH and Steele having the same offensive capabilities. I think Steele will improve offensively with time.

Can someone explain the purpose of an 11 am weekday home game? I have a class at 11 am and people have work, do they not want people to come to the games?

I think the answer is in my first post to start the thread.

Today is education day and there usually have been say 1,500 - 2,000 school kids from the area.

I believe the game used to start at 1:00 p.m. but not sure that was best for the kids because they had to be bused home (back to school?) before the game ended.

I'm GUESSING the new arrangement: 11:00 start and a lunch snack at half time and can stay for the entire game before going back to school for dismissal.

I don't think they've been given much of a chance to. I liked what I saw from LWH in the Bahamas, not to mention our first two games were against very good opponents. Last year, against MSU and Louisville, Naz had 3 and 5 points, respectively. That isn't a knock on him...it's just hard to judge our players against much better opponents. Let's see how we look against Gardner-Webb on Friday.

Don't think there's radio for this one, but there will be an ESPN3 broadcast, of course.

Agree.

We won't see many (or any) teams like SMU in the MAC.

RE: Game Day (a day early): Rochester
Our scoring really picked up when we started driving to the basket and running in transition, rather than jacking ugly 3s from 4 feet beyond the arc.

Go figure.

Or... 03-lmfao 03-lmfao03-lmfao

Trump shouldn't Tweet at 3 a.m.

EMU79 shouldn't post at 3:30 a.m. (see football thread).

College basketball players shouldn't play games at 11:00 a.m.

EMU was ice cold from the field to start the game...

Bond got them running and JT4 has been a monster on the boards.

This was a problem last year when we were hot from the outside we were really hot but yes there were times we come down take one horrible shot and no one was really in position for even a rebound. This was usually followed by Murphy putting the offender on the bench.

JT4 and Lee having monster halves.

I think JT4 has 15 boards already...

Lee is putting on a highlight show on the boards.

That may be true (actually it IS true), but ordinary D-I players do not necessarily look like superstars vs. D-II competition.

Won by only 15 that is not good.

I was not at the game, but if we only won by 15 points...... we're not playing to our potential.

RE: Game Day (a day early): Rochester
I really would not put too much stock into the final score. Rochester made a run late in the game against our walk-on players. Murphy has said in the past that his goal in these games is not to run up the score. We could have won by 30 if we wanted to.

That said, not our best performance. We will have to step up our level of play this weekend. But again, I think we were intentionally saving our legs for this weekend, rather than trying to blow out a lower-level opponent.

Largest lead in the 2nd half was 24 points.

Once a game gets to 24 points it is decided as far as I'm concerned.
