Week 11 Massey Ratings
32. Troy
45. Appalachian State
77. Idaho
80. Arkansas State
90. Georgia Southern
96. South Alabama
112. ULM
116. Georgia State
120. New Mexico State
125. Texas State
Ole Miss is #31 at 5-5. Ludicrous. The four teams below us are 6-4. Apparently a SBC has to knock of the #2 team in the country and go 12-0 to even sniff the Top 25.

While the Masseys use many ratings, they include Jeff Sagarin, who does an awful job modelling the Belt. They have Troy at 61st.
These model point spreads, rather than actual wins and losses. I looked at Sagarin this year for the Belt vs all OOC. He got it wrong a third of the time and have about a 13 point variance (average error) in point spread. Garbage model.
Next year when Coastal moves from FCS to FBS watch their initial Sagarin rating fall by 30 to 40 points simply by moving from FCS to the Sun Belt.
I know Sagarin, and I'll bet the other ratings, model POINTS rather than wins. Sagarin does a horrendous job of modeling SBC wins vs FBS teams.

RE: Week 11 Massey Ratings
Is there any human element in this poll??? As long as there are, it's going to be biased. But other then that, yes, you need to beat a ranked team to be a ranked team. Unfortunately you don't get many chances in the season, and they cance you had was against the #2 team in the country and you lost. Had you played SDSU when we did, you would probably be ranked right now. But instead, we beat them and then crapped the pot in conference.
Does anyone else in the SBC have a win over a ranked, then or currently, team his season??? That is where Troy needs help from the conference, and right now, they aren't getting it.

Maybe so, but for some brief moment in time this season, we were actually relevant.

This is getting tiresome. I wasn't beating my chest, I was pointing out that the conference needs more meaningful OOC wins, something your team hasn't done in over two years. So you are not needed in this conversation. If you read the entire post, you will see I addressed our inability to win conference games.
