Mid-week games not too prosperous for G-5 teams
Here are a few MAC & SBC games that were played early this week.

MAC-

Toledo 31 @ Northern Illinois 24
Attendance - 10,180

Bowling Green 38 @ Akron 28
Attendance - 6,605

Western Michigan 37 @ Kent State 21
Attendance - 4,536

Eastern Michigan 48 @ Ball State 41
Attendance - 4,442

SBC -

Louisiana 33 @ Georgia Southern 26
Attendance - 16,785 (not too shabby)

We can't blame the low turnouts on the World Series this week, so I guess the election is to blame.

Actually many of our mid-week games have decent or even good attendance. Its the MAC that is terrible.

Of course, I don't understand why they do their MACtion later in the year when its colder up there. Makes sense for them to trade mid-week slots with us.

MAC always has attendance like that.

Historically it's not been terrible at decent SBC schools. And we are fortunate enough to keep crappy teams from hosting much midweek action.

It's not about attendance numbers for weekday games, it's about being the only game on TV and building your brand. Problem is the market is getting saturated. With the NFL now playing on Thursday, and multiple MAC games a night, you aren't the only game to watch.

What does help for our games is our attendance is better, which does make a better atmosphere to watch a game, which does translate on TV. Ladd looked great for the South-Troy game. Meanwhile the MAC games look like middle school football games with only parents in attendance.

We need to keep home GaSt games off TV, that building, including sidelines, looks deserted. Hopefully it gets better for them when they move into the Ted.

Yes. I was very surprised our game there was on a weeknight. Made no sense.

The NIU crowd was actually pretty good. It was played at the white sox stadium 72 miles from Dekalb.

and yep... Other than 3 schools in a title hunt... No one is using this fairly mild November to their advantage.

It won't make much sense next year either I don't imagine.

Are you guys moving into the Ted next year??? If so, I didn't realize the work would be down that fast.

It'll be serviceable. Who knows if it'll be finished.

To be able to sell boxes and have your gear where you want it and leave it will be nice.

I'm still jealous.

Yep, next year. We begin revamping in January. That gives us 9 months. Phase 1 with 22k seats should be ready to go in September.
