I know this is beating a dead horse but the video needs to be posted.
Two thoughts:
1. While I am unhappy that Trump won, I am incredibly happy that he won in a landslide. The absolutely worst thing that could have happened was a narrow victory. The major issue with the EC is that the selectors can circumvent the election. Had Trump won a narrow victory he would have needed the support of 270 establishment Republicans to secure his victory. It is well known the establishment hates Trump and just a couple out of 270 could have given it to HRC. The very possibility of that happening has intense ramifications and if that ended up happening I don't even want to think about the potential ramifications.
2. Urbanization is simply incompatible with the EC. This is only going to get worse as the urbanization trends continue. With the way states like NC, NJ, GA, & TX are shaping we will get even closer to the major "11 states win" or "23% of the popular vote wins" scenario. While I don't like that my side got screwed on this twice in recent years, the big problem I have is that every time it does happen, people lose faith in the integrity of the system and eventually it will destabilize our political institutions. This is not going to go away. It happened twice in 16 years because of our population trends not because it was a coincidence and we will probably see it happen again in the next 16 years.
In conclusion I think every argument with the popular vote is either misguided/incorrect, based on an outdated political philosophy/concept, or is already present in the current system.
