As far as Trump goes, I'm still in "wait and see" mode. But, I have a small sliver of hope that he may actually end up in the center. Like, the whole "racist, misogynist, xenophobic" thing was just a lie to get elected.
Now to the thread: I already have a thread on this about what we should replace ACA with.
Here is a great link, talking exactly about the dilemma that the OP brings up: http://www.startribune.com/repeal-of-oba...400768651/
Donald Trump is a pragmatic businessman that knows how to count, end of story. If the base of the Republican Party is portrayed a certain way by the national media, he will not alienate them by responding to the media's oversimplification of that segment of the population.
The guy will do and say anything to make a buck; or in this case, get elected. Again, this is what you now have to do to get elected President in this country. Thanks but no thanks. I'll leave that ugly game to those who deserve it.
Maybe. But if he really wants only one term, then his motivations could be anything. Remember, he's not a politician.

Very true!!
He could well be thinking "those morons ... I told all those lies, just so I could tell my grand-kids that I was President of the United States! Ah ... what a great day."

He might, because I expect him to govern far more center left than most on here think he's going to.
I'll take that. There's a lot of issues that I feel is better for the country when it doesn't go overboard on the Left or the Right. I still lean Right though but would NEVER support anyone who was the Oblunder, Killary model. Extreme Right candidates I would have to wait to see their platforms.

A lot of people are going to be disappointed. Trump doesn't really have any hardcore firm belief system. He's already flip-flopping on stuff and tweeting contradictory things.
That's usually a death knell for any politician.
He will do one of two things. He will adopt the standard Republican dogma of the establishment and just coast....or he will figure out he needs to think about this stuff and find his own position based on common sense. Hopefully the latter.

Trump ran a brilliant campaign. He flanked her to the left on some very key issues all while keeping the base passionately in line. I'd find myself watching the debates in awe thinking "damn I wish Bernie had made that point the way Trump just did" and then he'd follow it up with something completely outlandish. That's the genius of it though you could accept or completely dismiss anything Trump said that you disagreed with and only go with the parts you liked because he had no set beliefs or policy you could pin him down on.
