UTA uses strong first parts of both halves to beat Texas Southern, 89-82. In the Kevin Hervey watch, he did not start, played 20 minutes and scored 16 points with 10 rebounds. Jalen Jones scored 21 to lead the Mavs.

My initial impressions, we did not shoot the three well, and still scored 89. The driving, up-tempo basketball I saw offensively was fantastic. Last year, we lived by the three. This year, the early returns look like we can win any way needed.

Defensively, looked like too much miscommunication and break downs. Too many times I saw an open man who should not have been or a player out of position. Hopefully, that's just the early season rust. One player did account for 37 of the Tiger points though.

After being out-rebounded the first half, UTA did what they did last year and controlled the boards.

All in all, was impressed with what I saw. Don't think we're the runaway favorites based on what I've seen by the rest of the SBC, but the possibility is still there.

The SBC is a combined 7-5 to start. 3-5 vs. DI though.

We're not finishing bloody 11th.

The wheels are coming off. UTA outscored 19-3 to start the second, trail 54-44 with 13:43 left.

Second media timeout and Minnesota already has been shooting in the bonus. UTA one more foul until its is two shots the rest of the way. 56-44 with 10:57 left.

Blue Mountain's 15 player roster is about 15% of the total male enrollment of the school, which is about 100 male students.

Troy beats Eastern Illinois from the OVC, 70-67. Troy moves to 2-0 with UAB up next.

Minn beats UTA 84-67. A 49-26 half killed the Mavs.

A-State knocks off Central Baptist 100-57.

Off to Georgetown for a game Thursday followed by two over the weekend in a tournament in New York.
