As soon as ODU scored on that opening drive, I tweeted asking if 2016 Marshall was the worst team we've had since we moved up to FBS in 1997.

Comparing the schedules through the first 9 games, it's hard to argue that we were worse in 2007. Aside from the admittedly awful home loss to New Hampshire that year, we played Miami FL, WVU at their height (finished 11-2 with the Fiesta Bowl win over Oklahoma), a Brian Kelly-led Cincinnati that finished 10-3, an Art Briles-led Houston program that finished the year 8-5, 2007 CUSA Champion UCF, and 2007 CUSA Runner Up Tulsa.

Our schedule this year can't even compare to that, even if all of our 2016 opponents won every single remaining game. 2016 is the worst Marshall team since we moved up to FBS, and probably our worst since the 1990 team that went 6-5, and even that's debatable. You might have to go all the way back to those early Sonny Randle teams from 1979-1981 or so.

No need to despair Marshall! If MT plays you like we did last Saturday against UTSA; the Raiders will cure all your aches and pains this coming weekend.

Absolutely zero chance of this happening unless Marshall changes something drastically between now and Saturday. You mustn't have been watching any of our other games this season.
