Not why or how they are stil projecting South. We have to win 2 of our last 3, not sure we can do that.

I agree, I don't think we are making a bowl game.

We *should* beat Presbyterian at home. We *should* also beat NMSU at home. We lost a game, but we're still the same team we were on Friday. We're not good, but we're probably good enough to squeak past a bad FCS team and NMSU at home.

USA only bowls in that scenario if

Less than 79 bowl eligible teams exist conventionally (Army is a lock to qualify at 6-6 with 2 FCS teams and will be picked before USA).

Right now, that scenario is odds on, but barely so.

Idaho is a lock for a bowl. The only way Idaho doesn't go, but USA does, is if Idaho loses at Texas State (probably not), to USA at home (probably not), or to Georgia State at home (probably not). Idaho should be favored in all three.

---

OMG, Jerry Palm's projections are pretty 'interesting'. He has UTEP, NIU, Boston College, Utah State, Northwestern, and Ole Miss bowling.

CBS STILL doesn't think we make a bowl? We have 5 wins with 3 games to play, 2 at home, and our remaining opponents are 8-18.

RE: 11/6 Bowl Projections
SBNation doesn't even try with its projections. There is no way in hell anyone wants to watch Toledo beat our brains in for a 4th time in 2 years.

I still think the only way we are in New Orleans or Mobile involves beating Troy and knocking them out of the Conference Championship Race. I am perfectly happy with Montgomery since it's fairly close, we haven't been, and it's not an upper level MAC opponent.

I totally agree the last one has the most potential, the rest are throwing darts at a board.

Ya and several web sites keep leaving them out....Idaho might end up with 7 or 8 wins.

Heck one of them originally had APR qualifiers AND a team that was already bowl eligible out.

RE: 11/6 Bowl Projections
David Jackson, who was App State's play by play man on the radio from 2000 to 2016, convinced pretty well on the Black and Gold podcast that App State will be headed again to the Camellia Bowl. His logic:

- The New Orleans Bowl would take an 8-0 Troy over App because (a) they're closer and (b) they'd be the hands down conference champion, with wins over App and Arkansas State. The NO Bowl would take an 8-0 Arkansas State over an 8-0 App State because of proximity. I suppose if App is the only 8-0 SBC team, then the NO Bowl may actually take App.

- The Dollar General will swipe up Troy, whether they beat App or not, because the relatively local fan base will buy more tickets.

- The Camellia Bowl will jump all over App. Attendance was good last year. It's far enough to require fans to stay overnight and spend money at restaurants but close enough that fans can actually get there.

- I just don't think three bowl games are going to pass on a 10-2 (8-0 SBC) or 9-3 (7-1 SBC) App State team that leads the conference in attendance and traveled well to the bowl game last year. So no Cure Bowl for Appalachian State.

I guess that leaves Idaho for the Cure Bowl unless South Alabama or ULL can do something special here.

GS can make a bowl game and will likely get the Cure.

I agree with DJ, App getting the NO bowl will require the perfect storm in any given year, that's why I want that one the most.

I enjoyed the Camellia bowl, but like the idea of visiting different ones. I'll be there no matter the location.

I don't mind

In reality, I would like to see a team Arkansas State matches up well against. Potentially a team with a slightly porous defense and above average offense.

Idaho should be offered the Arizona Bowl regardless of where they finish. We took up that bowl in hopes that one of the western teams would go bowling, which we got.

Southern, if they manage to go 6-6 will be given the Cure Bowl due to proximity and won't be given the opportunity to be embarrassed because the game is on CBSSN. That leaves the Alabama bowls and NO for Troy, App and Arkansas State.

I'm hoping for the Cure Bowl.

I understand it's the worst bowl, but we know we're the worst of the bowl teams eligible. We have accepted it at this point in the season.

the Cure might be the 4th ranked bowl, but I can think of a lot worst places to be than Orlando, mid December
