Voted Heart of Dallas. Most likely the best opponent available (unless Boise State goes to the Hawaii), and Dallas is easy to get to.

Anywhere but Hawaii (missing Christmas would have my family murder me)

Bahamas is nice but expensive. I have to think our participation in Battle 4 Atlantis this year may make that not happen.

My 1 is probably Dallas, followed by New Orleans, Albuquerque (nonstop JetBlue flight from NY), Bahamas, Shreveport, Boca, and Hawaii.

Well as long as we are all in the zone (dreaming about THE BOWL). I want a chartered train to take all the ODU faithful from Norfolk to Boca & back (or) a Monarch Cruise ship to the Bahamas and back. Somebody get to work on those possibilities please. 04-cheers

RE: What is your bowl preference?
Since this is ODU's first bowl game, I want a game that is as easy for fans to travel to as possible. Boca Raton and NOLA are the best options for this. The Bahamas or Hawaii would be dismal. There'd be almost no fans in the stands and I think that the 12th Monarchs should be given the opportunity to cheer for their team.

Also, I won't be able to afford flying to Hawaii/Bahamas and that's just unacceptable.

New Orleans

Same time as Miami vs. NY Jets, but that's OK. It's Miami vs. NY Jets.

Basically, I'd like to be able to have a crowd like this:

Carnival cruise has a 4 day out of FL with a stop in Nassau on Dec 23. at 12pm to 10pm. You'd have a 15min ride to Robinson National Stadium for kickoff at 1pm.

Flights to the Bahamas aren't more expensive than a random domestic flight (~$300, but this is from NYC) It's the hotels that will get you.

Hawaii is another story.

My plan if we get the Boca/NOLA bowls is to get a group of guys together and drive to wherever the bowl destination is. Means everyone gets to go at a much discounted price. #YoungAlumniLiving

I think for a first bowl game ODU needs to go where students, fans, and players' families can make the trip easily. The school needs a good showing to let bowl committees know that ODU will put butts in the seats. If memory serves, VT got picked for a bowl a few years back over another ACC team in the running simply because VT 'travels' better than a lot of other schools. The bowl in Florida might be the best one to make this happen. I know with VT there is a travel agency that is a sponsor of the team that puts together bowl packages every year for students and alumni. I would assume ODU would have something similar, especially to help get students down to the game. We were at the game last night (stayed until the end) and it was great to see the team celebrate becoming bowl eligible. This is a huge milestone for the program.
