I'm not sure that's a good thing. There's too many "U's" in CUSA already. A glut. It's as if you people think nobody knows you are a university. There's UTSA, UNT, FAU, FIU, UAB, MTSU, UTEP, etc... Sigh! Literally half of this conference has a "U" as part of it's primary brand.

It's enough to make your head spin.

So, I say CONGRATS to the schools in CUSA that are branded by a name other than something with a "U" in it. This "non U" branded club includes Charlotte, Southern Miss, LA Tech, Old Dominion, Rice and Marshall. None of these schools seem to get offended (like the UTSA guy above) if you leave out the "U". (WKU is a half and half member. Their fans don't seem to mind being called "Western Kentucky", but they seem to be trending toward "WKU".)

"Rice" is fine.
"Rice University" is cool, too.
Also acceptable is "The William Marsh Rice Institute for the Advancement of Letters, Science, and Art"

So then WMRIFALSA or TWMRIFTAOLSAA ?

UTEP's bowl hopes are a series of weekly do or die games. At 3-6 they have to win at FAU as a slight underdog this Saturday. Lose that one and it's over as far as bowl aspirations go.

There are a few other C-USA teams that can reach the 6-6 mark too and there is no guarantee that a 6-6 record will actually get a bowl bid. Not that a 6-6 team staying home is any great tragedy.
