RE: USA at ULM game thread
USA is the most unpredictable team in America. Us winning and them losing this week probably means it's more likely they beat us in Moscow in a few weeks.

Warhawks win!
USA now sits at 4-5. They have a bye next week followed by Presbyterian. Assuming they win that, they will finish the season @ Idaho, vs NMSU needing to win both to clinch a bowl, needing to win 1 to at least have a shot at a waiver.

Definitely feeling better about or QB position. Starting RB and QB are true freshmen. Overall very young team and still have a long way to go. Good luck the rest of the year.

After today, there won't be any spots available for a sixth Belt team to bowl anyway.
My frustration is that USA doesn't get better when the season progresses. We get worse. We don't have a lot of injuries either. This points towards a troubling trend. I don't have the pitchfork in my hand right now, but I definitely have it out of the box, ready to go.

We don't have a lot of injuries? I assume you mean new injuries? We lost our entire starting defensive line before the season started, lost a couple backups since, lost our best starting safety, a solid backup LB, our all conference C transferred, we lost our best o-lineman (also all-conference) a couple weeks ago. Our best LB was playing hurt, and one of our corners was out for this game. Injuries have made us even with our competition recently.

Yes, new injuries. What happened before the season was bad, but we seemed to manage it early in the season. I just don't get why or how we, for the third straight year, just cr*p the bed at the end of the season. I'm quite frustrated. This is the third year in a row where we've faltered at year end. Other teams have injuries too.
We are 1-8 in our last nine conference games (and Ga State basically threw that game - or rather punted it - to us). We are 5-12 in our last 17 conference games. And we are 5 points away from being 1-8 this year. We are also a combined 1 minute and 15 seconds of 4th quarter play from being 1-8. This loss was long overdue.
Congrats to ULM. You beat us. Its not that I'm upset about losing to you guys - I'm just frustrated that our coaching staff cannot seem to hold a team together at year end. Or compete effectively in conference games. This is about more than 1 game.

I'm not so sure - yet.
We seem to manage to win a lot of close games. We could be Georgia State or NMSU right now...but we're not. Or even ULM. Or Texas State.
----
But we're currently 1-8 in our last conference games. There's a problem here.
We also play fast and loose with fate. We don't put away anyone. We've currently led the entire fourth quarter in exactly 0 of our last 16 games. We've currently led the entire fourth quarter in exactly 2 of our last 27 games. This is a huge problem. If we're good enough to put together 4th quarter comebacks consistently, then we should be good enough to not be in that position so often.
---
At this point, I'm not calling for his head, but I'm really questioning whether CJJ can actually move USA forward from the 5-7/6-6 spot. I wouldn't be disappointed if we decided to make a change at the end of the year, but I'll be demanding a change if improvement in recruiting, conference wins, and game management doesn't happen next year.

I know this probably doesn't help any, but I and everyone I talked to thought y'all were the best team all around that we played at home this year, which includes Idaho, Southern, and Texas St.

Thanks for the kind words and congrats on the win. I'm happy for your players and fans.
I'd put us behind Idaho at this point.

Thanks. I think that's the most frustrating part of this. We have a good team, we've shown that this season. For some reason, we just can't put it all together. I have to give you guys credit though, that young QB played outstanding. We had no answer for him, and our secondary is usually solid.

No idea whether you're being supportive of CJJ or sarcastic.
And that's the whole problem with Jones.
He has done a good job getting USA up and running. But its looking more and more like he can't get USA over the hump.
We probably won't replace him this year, unless we lose out. But next year, his seat will be hot.
