Just imagine if Duke didn't have that hiccup in '95, they'd be working on a streak of 32 straight, including 12 F4's, 9 national title games and 5 national titles.

Tough being an SC basketball fan. This might be the year, then again I thought last year was.

Im impressed with USCe. Their fans show up whether the teams, fb and bb, are winning or not. The attendance figures for both sports are just impressive. Cuse football fans can certainly learn something from S Carolina.

We really do.

Last year for a noon game (that we ultimately lost) against the Citadel, in November, after our coach quit, and sitting at 3-7, we still managed to sell 77k tickets (96% of capacity). Crowd wasn't quite that but it was in the 70s. Fans come good or bad, rain or shine.

Other than NW, Nebraska is the only P5 school never to win a NCAA tourney game.

Other P5 droughts between wins
Rutgers (1983)
TCU (1987)

Every other P5 team has won a game since 2001

Houston hasn't won a game since their 1984 title

Nope, didn't know that at all about UH. And yet, Houston still has more F4's, appearances and wins than about 75% or more of college basketball.

Barring something crazy, like a probation, I think it's safe to write in a new record to the record books.

Do you really think there will be an NCAA tournament this year? Everyone is talking about how a civil war is starting to erupt and tens of thousands of people wouldn't want to be all in the same place.

Michigan State could be close to dropping out. Bracket Matrix still has them on 84 of 87 of the brackets assessed. It's not exactly a safe spot at the ten line, but it's better than Indiana and Michigan just barely in or out.

Yeah, the SOS is always good, but the quality wins aren't shining through. So far, it's two against Minnesota, one against Michigan, one with Northwestern, and Wichita State. Of those, Minnesota and Northwestern look the strongest to get there without the assistance of AQ so far.

I think Northwestern is the only major school with a longer drought.

Northwestern has never competed in the NCAA Tournament. That streak should end this year.

William & Mary is another school that has not competed in the NCAA Tournament.

Coach K was in pain and needed the medical attention (surgery). The loss of one of the all-time greats Grant Hill hurt. He put Duke on his back and took them all the way to 94 title game. After he left, they weren't nearly as talented. Loss of leadership from Grant to NBA and Coach K out was too much for that Parks, Meeks, and Blakeney led 95 team. Not to mention the schedule was pretty strong...Wake had Duncan, Georgia Tech was top 25, North Carolina was great, Virginia and Maryland were really good. UConn and Michigan were top 25 and UCLA was ranked number 2 when Duke played at UCLA

Coach K ran from the defeats. I am ashamed that he has any connection to West Point.

They've been knocking on the door for a bid the past few years.

Puncher's chance they get it this year, actually. They thumped UNCW two weeks back, and have wins over CoC and Elon, three of the top four teams in CAA.

Problem is, they're good at home. S-U-C-K on the road (2-11?!). CAA tournament is in Charleston, not Willamsburg, but, it's not like W&M doesn't know how to beat the top of the conference.

Now, if only St. Francis (Brooklyn) could figure out a way to get to the tournament...

Jawdropping, isn't it? 04-jawdrop Duke missed once but that's because Alphabet Soup was injured and an interim coach had to take his place for half the year.

He wasn't injured, he took time off because he saw that he didn't have a good enough team that season and didn't want the losses reflected on his record.

0% chance they keep Izzo out of the Tournament. Look for MSU to get an easier bracket as well.

He chose to have surgery, that's the difference. He pulled the same nonsense this season once Duke started performing poorly.

27 Kansas
21 Duke
19 Michigan State
18 Gonzaga
18 Wisconsin
--- HUGE DROP ---
6 North Carolina
6 Cincinnati
6 VCU
5 Iowa State
5 Wichita State
4 Arizona
4 Oklahoma
4 Oregon
4 Villanova

There's a few borderline teams but at this point, there's a pretty decent chance that everyone on this list that isn't Oklahoma will extend their streaks.

11 programs that have made the NCAA 20 of the last 25 years.

Duke, Kentucky, North Carolina, Kansas, UCLA, Ville, MSU, Whisky, Texas, Zona, Cincinnati.

If not for the huggs fiasco and gutting of the program I think Cincy would have been 25 for 25 or 23 of 25, etc.

I don't think anyone has been dismissed more as a 1-seed before the Final Four than Kansas.

Hasn't Gonzaga made at least 20 straight NCAA tournaments?
