I think if TCU only sells out half of their stadium, we are in a much better shape. They are in a more recognized conference, have great regional matchups, recent top 10 seasons, and are in a football-crazy state. So for them to have 5,000 more fans than us is not impressive.

Regardless, I think the point is that our stadium is full week in and week out, and it looks great. TCU having 25,000 in a 50,000 seat stadium (and to be fair it did say overtime game, many people leave because they have other obligations, want to beat traffic, or just don't feel like being there anymore) doesn't look good on tv because of the amount of empty space. It looks like they don't have support. While our 20,000 seat stadium is small, it's not like we have a 5,000 seat stadium. That is still a good amount of people coming to one place to watch a sporting event, and it looks and sounds great on TV.

Kentucky has a basketball stadium that holds more than Foreman Field. UVA, UNC, and others have arenas that are twice as large as ours or bigger. But when the Ted is 85% full (which I think is around the average) it still looks and sounds great on TV. I still love watching clips of the NIT game against Murray State because of the way the Ted looked and sounded. Was it as big as some of the powerhouses? No but it has proven to provide a fantastic home atmosphere and home court advantage.

It's the 4th smallest FBS stadium, and Idaho is dropping to FCS, UMass was FCS, and Charlotte is a brand new program.

Dude, we started football in 2009 as an FCS team. What the heck would you expect?

Bragging about selling out the 4th smallest FBS stadium is pretty absurd.

And yet our attendance is higher than more than a couple dozen other schools'.

What's absurd is coming over here talking about attendance when Temple is only filling 42% of their stadium capacity. you average 8000 more fans than we do.... Perhaps you should consider a downgrade in stadium size

RE: Monarch Nation PROUD Football SELL OUTS - Look around at others...WOW
If you go back to 2009 (when we started football), Temple's average attendance has been 26,122. Even those numbers are greatly inflated by hosting Penn State and Notre Dame last year (both games had attendance of 69,000 (most of them for the visiting teams). If you took out those two outliers and assumed Temple would have otherwise hit their average attendance for their other 4 games (31,600), their average attendance since '09 drops to 23,916. I'm really not impressed.

As far as I'm concerned, we have nothing to apologize for regarding our attendance, especially not to a freakin' Temple fan.

You are making incorrect assumptions. We had the majority of fans for both games. Are our fans front-runners, who didn't come back for many of the other games? Absolutely.

No, absurd is trashing other schools for not filling stadiums that are over 3x larger than your stadium. You wouldn't be talking about attendance if you played in a 40K+ seat stadium.

We are considering a downgrade in stadium size. We play in a 70K seat NFL stadium off campus. We're working on building a 35K-38K seat stadium on campus.

All I know is that there are a bunch of teams who only wish they would have had 50 straight games of 20,000+ in attendance, Temple included.

Well there's an assumption you've made. Kind of hard to argue about assumptions.

Congratulations, you filled your NFL stadium for the biggest games in your program's history. So far the biggest home game in our program history is NC State.

We are new to football. You aren't. Going back and forth and making attendance assumptions with a brand new football program that still isn't full recruited on the FBS level is shedding some light on the state of your program. This was fun!

That's not anything we would celebrate.

If you're happy about it, that's fine, but don't trash other schools when you would not sell out stadiums twice as large as yours.

Um, this is our message board so - - - yeah - - - we tend to like ODU and talk down about other schools. Thanks for sharing but seriously "Get a Life" and if you don't like our board how about staying on yours. 07-coffee3
