Cool C-USA Women's soccer tournament
Rice plays UTEP in Game 3 of today's action at 3:30 CT.

No. 1 seed UNT defeated No. 8 ODU 1-0 in Game 1; No. 4 FAU beat No. 5 LaTech 3-0 in Game 2.

Game 4 tonight is WKU-Charlotte.

Actually, I think No. 1 Seed, North Texas defeated No. 8, ODU by a score of 2-1 in OT. Very interesting that a not-very-good ODU team kept the pressure on UNT.

Rice's season ends with a 1-0 loss. Lots of shots on goal, no points. Such futility.

I no longer care about the Game 4 result.

This is the same crap that happen last year. Why does Rice keep getting stuck with such mediocre coaching? Can't we find someone who can prepare these players for the most important sport event of the year for Rice and for them? It is so hard to support Rice athletics because of this crap. I bet this happens in volleyball too.

C-USA Women's soccer tournament
I've watched several home games this year and found the coaching, ball movement, defensive structure, etc to be very good. Soccer is a fluky sport. Our ladies won 7 in a row and unfortunately caught the wrong end of 1-0 despite outplaying them in most stats. That's soccer sometimes. Nicky recruits and coaches well. Let's support her instead of tearing her down just because we're disappointed we didn't win conf tourney.

Is this serious? Soccer is one of our top sports....the team just lost at the wrong time. Any chance they will make the NCAA tourney without the tournament championship?

RE: C-USA Women's soccer tournament
Format and selection process is very similar to College Baseball... Finishing second in conference play, Mid-forties RPI, and losing in the first round of the conference tournament is not a good position to be in.

Division I Women's College Soccer - Women's College Cup | NCAA.com

Quote:National Participation
There are 333 NCAA member institutions that sponsor Division I Women’s Soccer teams and are eligible to compete in the National Championship. All 333 programs support approximately 8,300 Women’s Soccer student-athletes across the country.

Selection Process
The championship provides for a field of 64 teams. Thirty-one conference champions qualify automatically; the balance of the field is selected at-large by the NCAA Division I Women’s Soccer Committee.

Selection Show | November 7, 2016 at 4:30 p.m. ET on NCAA.com
The 2016 NCAA Division I Women’s Soccer Championship bracket will be announced the Monday prior to the first-round of competition.
