RE: "Biggest" Rivalry in CUSA... LOL
BlueraiderJT you are the one talking attendance smack...some Western fans including myself are just pointing out you cant count...

let me put it this way...how would you know who or how many people are still walking around outside the stadium? The only way to know this is to be there yourself or spending all your time in the concourse....

Well I guess you could have been one of the 100 people sitting up top and looking out over the stadium. BTW to show how silly you are to say for a fact there were 22k at this game...

Capacity:30,788

100 people OK I will give you 200 sitting up top.....the top holds between 7000-8000 butts/seats

As for 2010 and 2008....when Middle had those good Tuesday night games. How many times those years were Middle on TV? Today almost all college football games are on TV or streamed and can be watched on TV. Not just any TV like 2008 but most people own large screen HD TV. You can complain all you want about CUSA's TV package but one thing is not going to change no matter if you keep whining like a little girl...

Middle has been on TV each and every years they moved to CUSA 5x more than when you played in the SBC

But maybe Middle might want to go back to the OVC if you are longing for those good ole days

Middle vs
27,568 Tennessee State
27,519 Southeast Missouri

As for South Alabama....they had 14,741 for their last home game before Troy...they played a top 25 school and 13,086 the game before that. As you pointed out with Middle's attendance...

once every few years people show up for A game

Lol WKU fans are so worked up. You can talk once you fill every seat in your tiny stadium for an MT vs WKU game. Bye bye

No Western fan is worked up....

Middle fans (or a few) on the other hand are and it really has nothing to do with the number of fans at the game or if it was on TV (who cares if you were there) or a long ago Tuesday night in 2008.

Nope only one number had them worked up...the one that really broke their hearts.

Before that one number (I don't need to say it right) we had Middle fans talking about tie breakers if they are 8-0. Now some of those same fans can't see ever winning again LOL

As I said...one number has Middle fans all worked up

RE: "Biggest" Rivalry in CUSA... LOL
Part of the problem is that since the rivalry was restarted in 2007, neither of us have lit the world on fire prior to last year. There really haven't been too many years in which we were both good.

2007 MT(5-7) WKU(7-5)
2008 MT(5-7) WKU(2-10)
2009 MT(10-3) WKU(0-12)
2010 MT(6-7) WKU(2-10)
2011 MT(2-10) WKU(7-5)
2012 MT(8-4) WKU(7-6)
2013 DNP
2014 MT(6-6) WKU(8-5)
2015 MT(7-6) WKU(12-2)

2015 was the first year we were both bowl teams in the same season. Western looks like they're headed to their third consecutive bowl and fourth in five years, we look like we're headed to back-to-back bowls for the first time in program history(third in four years).

If both programs continue bowling consistently and continue being a factor in the division, the crowds on both sides will look better and better.

Bottom line IMO:

1) 1:30 game time--stinks for home AND traveling fans

2) tide-vols (I did't care-but many did)

3) attendance is down at most places (games too long,etc.,etc.)

Good TV goes hand in hand with attendance. We drew better in the belt. That's a fact. That's all I'm saying. This Troy vs. South Bama is a great game with a great environment. 3 games on tonight and they are one of them. Hope y'all look good on ASN or a facebook /twitter feed on BeIn's crapcast.

We were playing for the east and it wasn't even on TV at all. I rest my case.

That was great exposure for the SBC last night. South Alabama kept the game interesting somehow although looking at the stats, I don't know how. Troy totally dominated the stats but was kept out of the endzone just enough to keep it close. Good crowd and atmosphere. It was by far South Alabama's best crowd of the season and speaks volumes for having rivals within driving distance. Lots of Troy fans were there.

I don't know how great the exposure was. I was watching the Cubs/Dodgers and Green Bay/Chicago.

SBC has had great exposure the last 10 years, what has it gotten them? Short answer nothing, still perceived as the worst conference in FBS with almost little coverage and no one talking about them....Agreed CUSA is not tearing it up but still perceived on a higher rung then fun Belt..

If you're playing a team you played in the Belt and you're drawing considerably less, I think that's more on your own school than the conference your in.

USM is drawing far less than it did between 2009-2011 where we consistently averaged over 30k, but we aren't blaming a tv deal. We're blaming ourselves for not performing well for a few years which lost fan interested, we're blaming leadership that has called massive division within our fanbase and has many older fans not coming to games at all, and we're blaming many of the additions who have created an apathy among our fans who are used to playing the schools that left us. But that goes back to lack of leadership.

Stop blaming the tv deal or your conference. Look in the mirror.

RE: "Biggest" Rivalry in CUSA... LOL
I personally like the SBC (well most) and don't have anything bad to said about the conference. I enjoyed the traveling more when Western was in the SBC with Troy/USA/FAU/FIU can't beat that for someone that loved S. Fla and the warm and blue/green waters of the Gulf. I enjoyed going to ULL more than Tech...nothing wrong with Ruston but it was easy to stay in New Orleans going both ways and getting some great fishing in.

But Western is better off in CUSA no matter if the TV package is not what it was two years ago. No matter if the drives are longer and not to places I want travel to in Dec, Jan or Feb..for me personally. If you only look at a conference TODAY...

you are being short sided

It's tomorrow and next year and the year after and five years out that will tell the story on if CUSA meets it's potential or not. Basketball will be the deciding sport on that...not football. There is no way any basketball fan can say with a straight face they would rather be in a conference with the current SBC members over CUSA. Hell the SBC is not far behind CUSA the last two years..might even be even with CUSA. But long term CUSA looks to be head and shoulders the better basketball conference.

And as I said...I have nothing bad to say about the SBC...other than I hate Jonesboro Ark

Uhhhh, those tuesday night games were on ESPN and ESPN2. Am I using english? We had great crowds. The 2 feed off each other. SMH, Kids today and their short attention span. :-)

If you guys are happy with things as they are now then yay! We haven't had a losing record in this conference or since we've been a member of CUSA so we're doing our part. However, I haven't seen a lot of change since we CUSA and it hasn't had that big of an impact for us. No one here really cares all that much. You guys are treating this like we joined the SEC or something. CUSA and Sun Belt are about the same. No difference to most folks. We have like 7-8 teams that are bottom feeders. Keep thinking we are elite though.

How often are we on ESPN or Fox? Case closed.

That seems like a Middle problem.....

Last year Western played on

ESPN/SEC
FS1
ESPNN
CBSSN
FOX
FOX
CBSSN
ESPNU
FOX
FOX
FSN
FS1
ESPN2
ESPN

in case you are having a problem figuring that out....ALL 14 Western games were on TV last year.

I believe that would be about as many as the SBC had combined...or at least 1/2

So as I said this is a Middle problem of not being seen as a good enough team/program to be put on national TV. And I guess you just didn't know CUSA did not have a contract with espn the last 4 years Middle was in CUSA. So kind of hard getting them to put you on their network.

When Middle was in the SBC we had 2 to 4 games on TV...anywhere so stop the whining

How many times were you on this year? That's my point. It wasn't on Fox or ESPN. SMH. I'm talking about now. The SBC still has games on ESPN and we have twitter streams and facebook broadcasts. If we were the better conference, where is our ESPN weekly representation? Where's our fox rep?

We were on all of those channels last year. What about this year? We came over in 2013. It was a bit more money then. Now we don't even have that. So not much more money, TV, prestige or exposure. Is it gonna get better? I sure hope so but I'm not seeing it. Glad you do.

And yet the majority of teams you play are teams from the Belt. I don't know what you're complaining about.

With a worse TV deal now than what we had with worse attendance and time scheduling. That's what I'm complaining about. Hopefully, it will get better. We need to fire this commish like now.

Our media deal is absolutely terrible, and we should be looking for new leadership at the conference offices, but the line up we play in C-USA is far better then what we had in the Sun Belt.

Not only do we not compare to them, we're not even in the same conversation no matter how well we play. Vandy even outranks us in the Nashville media. While I may be in the minority about weeknight games, we've had some of the best turnouts for those games. All of those were on ESPN too BTW.

2008 FAU - tuesday night - 25k plus. We were the only game on ESPN and we had top plays of the day because of it.
2010 Troy - tuesday night ESPN - 28k
2010 Minnesota - Thursday night - 24k plus - ESPN2
2011 WKU - Thursday night ESPN2 - 24k plus
2012 @WKU - Thursday night ESPN2 - good crowd for y'all

Play during the week and get better exposure. Plain and simple. BYU always plays on Thursday and Friday nights and they have built a fanbase up because of it. Rather be back in the belt. CUSA has done nothing for us.

How about 2 bowls games....

Middle sit home with a 8-4 record in the SBC and 7-5 last year gets you a seat in front of the TV instead of the Bahama bowl

You probably get a 16 seed last year instead of the 15...not much difference. Sure it is and Middle would still be without a NCAA win 1989

So I wouldn't say anything

Oh, I don't know. FAU had gone bowling with a 6-6 record from SunBelt and stayed home with a 6-6 from C-USA...

This goes both ways.
