Agreed. I don't want to sound whiny because I love this site, and am very appreciative of the work you do, but not having an app would be a less than ideal experience. I certainly understand that you have your work cut out for you just to re-write the site, but I do hope that you will not completely write off the idea of an app as something you may revisit after the site is squared away. Tappatalk drives me crazy, but not half as much as having to browse a web page in crappy mobile chrome would.

I can certainly take a look when that time arrives. Hopefully third party middleware solutions for writing "once" across iOS and Android will be better by then. Because I just refuse to buy into the entire Apple ecosystem just to write one app. And fragmentation within Android is an issue too. I'd be interested in having you test the mobile setup for me. Having a harsh critic is useful for that.

I went responsive and havent looked back. It prevents us from having to create a myriad of mobile apps which causes duplicate development out the hiney. And I cant even begin to describe how much easier rolling out development modifications are when you dont have to deal with all of the mobile providers in the middle.

Question:

If the Mobile App is going away next year, will you still be able to access via Tapatalk, or is that feature going away too?

Out of curiosity, would existing accounts, archived posts, rep points, etc. carry over to the new boards?

Good luck to you on this project. I am curious though what features are missing from existing software like phpBB, vBulletin, Xenforo, etc? I believe that Rivals moved away from their custom software a year or two ago and now use Xenforo.

With Bootstrap, you can effectively create different looks for the same markup -- in fact, our ACCbbs Football Pick'em is a live demonstration of that concept.

It's kept me from wanting to explore Android development.

I wanna code! :)

yep. I purchased the initial rendition of my company's application portal off of bootstrapbay for $10. We got it up and going quick. Its great because our senior team can access it and use it on their smart phones or ipads while they are traveling or stuck in an airport. No need to rollout mobile apps to do all of that.

I'll even be carrying over all the MyBB graphics and icons (thanks GPL license!). Ideally, you should barely be able to tell a change has occurred aside from new features.

Why make the new thing look like the old one? Take the opportunity to clean it up and modernize it. Make it a responsive design and you don't even have to "detect" mobile vs. not mobile, just have a version that looks good on both.

I want a button that I can push when some yammerhead is spewing complete idiocy. Can you make it kick him in the butt or shock him via the keyboard?

I'd pay extra. It would be very popular on the various conference main boards.

The technophobes are, if not a majority, a huge contingent of the site. I don't want to throw their entire world upside down.

Getting rid of the current board software. Replacing it with stuff I'm custom writing. Will look almost the same but have new features everyone desires and be low maintenance which I desire.

Congrats on deciding to take such a huge step. I definitely do appreciate it and all the time it takes for such a venture. I'll be looking forward to the changes in 17. 04-cheers
