BYU's secondary may not have been able to guard a shoe, but Woodside made some great throws too. Dude's got an arm. Closest thing we've had to a real QB in a long time. I'm salivating over seeing what he can do against our MAC schedule.

BYU head coach heaped tons of praise upon Logan Woodside.

One thing both Phillip and Logan have in common: they both ran the scout team offense. Speaks highly of both of their quality character.

I look at it like this: we had a decent quarterback last year and a good season. Would've liked a championship but it wasn't in the cards. Now we get Logan for another year!

If it wasn't for the offensive line, in particular, Storm Norton, Logan wouldn't have had the game he did. Storm had to block a very athletic, speed rusher one on one the entire game, and I don't believe the guy ever got a hand on Woodside. He reminded me of the guy from Buffalo that now plays for the Raiders. Great game by the entire offense!!

Storm vs #21 Harvey Langi was a heck of a matchup. Both had their moments, unfortunately I know Storm missed a chop block and Langi deflected the pass that lead to BYUs 1st INT.

I believe it was the interception, he had Norton off his feat. But it's easier to notice the bad plays. Get's happy feet sometimes at the beginning of games, procedurals but has been a great asset. Hoping he has a chance at the NFL camps.

I lay blame for last season not being an epic season at the coach's feet and no one else's.

Agree---last year was a rare opportunity that slipped away.

Couldn't agree more. Campbell was not even mentally present for the WMU game.

That FG last weekend was another one. With all the teams that lost, we would have slipped into the rankings I think.

Be interesting to hear coaches say what they thought they did well and what needed work (in hindsight). Slow starting D. How do you fix that?

I don't think the Rockets would have made it into the top 25 even if the D had stopped BYU during that last 1:11 because it would have been a win over a 1-4 team, albeit a very good 1-4 team, but 1-4 nevertheless. The Rocket would have picked up some more votes but I suspect they would have had to win at least another couple of games before the attrition moved them up enough to break the top 25.

Remember WMU barely broke the top this week in one of the two main polls only on the strength of 2 wins over P5 teams and unlike last year's win over a ranked Arkansas SEC team, a win over a G5 type 1-4 BYU teams would not have turned many heads.

The Rockets can still probably end up in the top 25 this year but they will probably have to get to around 9-1 to break in and then remain perfect for the rest of the year if they want to stay there-----and that is not a easy thing to do.

After the Arkansas win last year I wanted it all---a MACC, a top 25 ranking and the Access Bowl, but this year I will be totally satisfied with a MACC and a win in any bowl.

Agreed. I think a 10-2 regular season with a bowl win would be a great year. Hopefully that includes a MAC title but certainly can't complain if we end up winning 11 games and probably finishing in the top 25

RE: Logan freaking Woodside
10-2 will leave most frustrated because of where that implies the second loss. WMU is very unlikely to lose a conference game to anyone but us, let alone the 2 that would be the tie breaker. That means we'll need 11-1 to get to the conference championship, right?

I think we're looking at a 12-1 (conference champ) and then depending upon bowl match-up, 12-2 or 13-1 to put frustrations behind.

Tall order..

RE: Logan freaking Woodside
I re-watched the BYU game and I have to say that Woodside was simply AWESOME!!!!! Best performance ever by a UT QB passing-wise. The move to RS him was beyond wise. He is a true star in the making. His patience, feel, touch, and accuracy are obviously at a very high level.

Logan Woodside was quite simply a recruiting steal. He has pro potential.. no doubt.

Go Rockets!!!!

Logan is a guy who wants to be at Toledo. He graduated high school early to get here as soon as he could. Having Ely at Toledo really helped his growth. Ely learned his football attitude from Nick Saban and that certainly rubbed off on Logan.

RE: Logan freaking Woodside
Woodside is continuing to skyrocket up the UT record book.

This season, in 6 games:
2013 yards, is 20th best all time.
24 TDs is 5th best all time, trailing only Bruce and Chris Wallace.

His passer rating is still over 200, which should keep him near the top nationally.

For his career:
44 TD passes is tied for 6th best all time with Chris Wallace, and 1 behind the great Chuck Ealey.
6 career 300 yard passing games is 3rd best, trailing only Bruce and Aaron Opelt.
his 4516 yards passing is only a couple hundred out of the top 10 all time.

WSPD gave the OMVP to Mike Roberts, and that's fine. He's certainly deserving. But, Logan was not to be denied. He is equally worthy.

RE: Logan freaking Woodside
Logan seemed a little off at times against BG.
1. sometimes had nervous feet and felt pressure when wasn't there.

2. took sacks when had opportunity to throw ball away. (most times he'd been sacked in one game and not on the o-line)

3. never kept the ball on the read run. always gave it to the back. have to keep it sometimes to keep the defense honest......

However, he got it done in the end
