RE: Updates:UAB Basketball Recruiting Week Recap
Garrett Tucker
2017 Pelham (AL) PF Alex Reese will announce his college decision this week. Will choose from Alabama & UAB.

Drew said to expect Reese and Herb Jones to come off the board. So that pretty much gives it away.

Which could leave us 0fer on instate recruits huge letdown.

Also could be a great thing since not many Alabama high school basketball players has lit up the college ranks.

There's already word they committed to Bama during their practice on Friday. That's why it was a closed practice. They were practicing with the team. Getting an idea of the system and how they'd fit in.

Besides Gueye and Negron. That's a tough question, and Gueye's OV to UAB was his 1st OV. DePaul this weekend. Expect Rutgers and Louisville to get one too.

It's not unusual for kids to practice with a team that's recruiting them.
Matter of fact its normal as normal as seeing the recruit dressed out in that schools colors. UAB has done well with the kids it gets on campus, and if I was a big man this is the perfect time to sign with the Blazers. ..you can come in and learn thr system without being the man and then 2018 you are good to go..
I expect UAB isn't what the other recruiters are talking about, I expect its CUSA.
REBOUNDER2U GO BLAZERS! !

Kinda doubt that. I think its against the NCAA rules to practice as a team until Monday. Than again, if it was closed...

CUSA is definitely the biggest knock against us when recruiting big time talent.

They can play pickup games against each other but cannot practice. That is, coaches CANNOT be present...

Right

All im saying is same instance no cheating probably. It could only been six guys playing pickup. Playing some guys who should be there like Ingram, Key,Hall, Giddens, King and his kid is serious talent.

Probably not. This is an instance when strong team leaders and a "coach on the floor" type of PG is especially important.

RE: Updates:UAB Basketball Recruiting Week Recap
I don't follow recruiting at all, except for what I see you guys post here. From that it was pretty obvious that Reese was Bama's all along if they wanted him. He was a fallback position for Alabama and we were a fallback position for him. As long as CUSA is as bad as it is, fallback is a word we need to get used to and hope that players fall to us. It's not the coach's fault that he can't convince players the benefits of playing in front of 3500 people against FAU or FIU or playing on bein TV.

That said, I feel confident that we can field a team each year that will be as good as any team in CUSA.
