RE: Let the coaching carousel begin
Houston has it all except belonging to a P5 conference, even if LSU passes on Herman, or whatever reason, he turns them down, he stills has a great job, in a wonderful city, at a University that's willing to spend big bucks on him..life is good for Herman.

If you guys think UH is even close to the level of advantage LSU brings you guys are hitting that coolaid a little hard. A couple of good seasons recently and everyone breaks out the anointing oil... You guys are assuming UH go to the big 12 but they really don't bring anything to the table. UH isn't even the favorite team in their own city, the market is already owned by UT with A&M getting the rest. Also what incentive does UT, TTech, Baylor, and TCU have in giving up their advantage recruiting the Houston area? Everyone roots for Cinderella but there is a reason they got left behind and is has a lot to do with bigger more influential schools not wanting the competition. They are a very talented team with even better coaching but it won't hold forever and I think UT will keep it that way.

that's one way to size it up but B12 schools would like to be playing games in houston where they recruit. why do you think big name teams are willing to come play utsa. because they get to show their stuff in s.a. where they recruit and utsa has use of the alamodome.

That excuse = Big 12 commissioners are a big bag of pissies.

(Said in a whiny voice) "we don't wanna let Houston in because it's gonna make things too hard".

It's true that Houston adds nothing to the Big 12 from a financial standpoint. They're a program that rises and falls with the quality of their head coach who inevitably leaves or is replaced every few years. They add no market that isn't already saturated by The University of Texas. Texas has the most to lose by adding Houston and the Big 12 is a wholly owned subsidiary of Texas, therefore there will be no Houston.

Do I need remind everyone that Houston went the political route to get Texas to support Houston into the Big 12.

Yup Houston got UTs backing because UH has been blocking UT from building a new school in Houston. Basically, UT said we will vote for you if you let us build our new school.

The problem is that they need a super majority vote and ISU, KSU, and KU are against them because they are sick of the conference being so heavy in the state of Texas. They get one more no (and it sounds like OU is more and more against expansion) and UH is dead in the water.

That's funny cause I know for awhile there that OU was actually threatening to possibly bolt if the 12 didn't expand . . . . .

Any idea as to why the change of heart from North of the Red River?

OU has been the one supporting expansion, so not sure where that is coming from.

Sounds like UT said to ISU/KSU/KU.... "Hey guys, we need to build a new school in the city of Houston and get the big 12 some presence there, but the University of Houston is blocking us. I'll tell them we will vote for adding them to the Big 12.. if you guys all make sure you block them actually getting in, by voting no! Then we will also vote for whoever you three agree on! Deal?"
