Who replaces Greensboro as a #MarchMadness host?
And before you go any further, any hard drift into political shenanigans and I will ask the mods to close this thread down. Which might be a bit of trouble because I want to close the poll when the announcement is made.
Now, who will replace Greensboro as a host site for March Madness? Here are your choices:
Greenville, Providence, Columbia, Louisville, Albany, Jacksonville, Worcester, Hartford, Dayton, somewhere else

Is there a way to edit the poll, or should I just close this thread down and start over?

Choosing Greenville or Columbia would accomplish two purposes: 1) keep it near the original location and 2) show that when a state "complies" with the "will" of the NCAA, it will be rewarded.

Yeah, that's a great point- especially #2, which I hadn't thought of before but would make a ton of sense.

Columbia makes the most sense. Atlanta could be a destination too but I guess they'd want to save that for a regional final.

They will keep it as close as possible to Duke and UNC. Those teams seemingly never have more than a short bus trip to round one.

Maybe they'll call Coach K and ask him which site he prefers.

They'll put in Greenville and have Clemson as the "host" school. Greenville has a better airport situation than Columbia, a vibrant downtown area (Columbia is improving but not on par yet), it is easily reachable from most regional cities on I-85, and will keep that site within the ACC's backyard (no throngs of Gamecock fans showing up to boo Duke or UNC) while also acknowledging the removal of the confederate flag.

Matt Norlander @MattNorlander
The Univ. of South Carolina has announced it will NOT submit a bid to the NCAA to host as Greensboro’s replacement for the 2017 tournament.

Columbia, SC has now announced that they will not bid on the 2017 games.
Doh! Disregard. I see this was already posted above.

Rumor is that Albany(ALBANY!) is the leader in this chase, with Dayton not far back.

I would say highly doubtful for either as Buffalo and Indianapolis are both hosting already.

I would assume an arena that is close to Greensboro, NC. I'd personally though vote for Louisville.

Albany has been doing a lot of things the NCAA has been asking for. There's now a second full-service hotel within walking distance of the Times Union Center (and the first one was gutted and renovated in recent years). The arena's being renovated right now--mostly changes around the perimeter and a new roof, which apparently are the biggest needs for now. The new convention center will be open soon, and it's connected to the arena. In the plans, they made sure that it could be configured for basketball practice facilities.
The TUC hosted the women's regionals (Sweet 16 and Elite Eight) last year, which I understand was well-received. I know they're bidding on Greensboro's spot. Whether Albany gets this one or not, I fully expect the men's tournament to come back sooner rather than later.
