I don't want to speak for anyone else but I'm fairly certain that Tech and most likely Middle feels the same way. If S.Miss and Marshall fans feel like they are worse than everyone else in college football (might be true?) go for it...

Us Western fans don't feel that way about our program(s)

Agree - it's been kinda funny seeing all of the Marshall and Southern Miss fans with the 'we suck' comments referring to the conference instead of just taking their unexpected loss and referring to their own team's issues. I don't disagree that our conference is weak this year, but the arrogance behind these comments is pretty hilarious especially coming from Marshall who has a losing record (1-4) against MT and WKU since we joined.

Sure, we lost to Vandy, but at least it was on the road to an SEC team. Not the same no matter how bad you Vandy is. I'm still disappointed in how we played but at least we didn't call out the entire conference for our own loss.

As always, I know it's not all fans, but the select vocal few are pretty ridiculous at this point.

That's only because your schedules never had games against Houston, ECU, Memphis, UCinn., Tulsa, Louisville, Tulane and the likes each year, with a winning record against all but Cincy. Included in the schedule were usually 3 SEC teams, or later ACC, Big XII, Big East teams like NCState, Okla. State, Illinois, UVA, Kansas, Texas A&M, Pitt, TCU, Cal, and Nebraska, who came to The ROCK to play. Now its an occasional P5 (MSU last year and UK next year) and the conference schedule with North Texas, UTEP, Rice, UTSA, Charlotte, ODU, FIU, FAU, LaTech UKU, MTSU and Marshall, several of which were not even playing football a few years ago or where FCS.

You don't have 5 wins and a tie over Bama, multiple wins over Auburn, wins over LSU, Georgia and more than I can remember against MSU and OM. Not to mention wins over Nebraska, Pitt, Kansas, UVA, NC State, Okla. State, Illinois and TCU. SouthernMiss (until the disaster that was E. J. ELLLLLLLLLLLLoss) has a long tradition of winning FB against quality competition, that is being revived. It was among the top 20 teams in winning percentage until the 0-12 and 1-11 seasons, but still remains in he top 30. 5 conference titles and the Coach of the Decade for the first decade of CUSA. a three year stretch of 4-32 would have killed most programs, but not ours. We came back and won the west last year and are not out of the conference hunt for this year.

Yeah, we got left out of the realignment. But not because of performance on the field. Because of things we can't control. Being the third FBS school in a small, poor state with 2 SEC schools and witin 2 hours of Bama, 3 hours of Auburn and 11/2 to 2 hours of LSU.

When your Resume` is that good, come back and tell us to quit bitching.

Why does any of this "history" matter? Charlotte folks have been told our history doesn't matter in basketball, so it should not matter in football. Charlotte was the second most successful team by virtually all measures in C-USA 1.0 (A regular Top 5-6 ranked league) in men's basketball to Cincinnati. We hold the all-time series lead over Louisville (probably a Top 15 all-time program) and were second in titles and wins to Cincinnati. For 5+ years running, ESPN aired Charlotte vs. Cincy during Rivalry Week. We routinely beat Top 10 programs. We beat 3 Top 10 teams in ONE SEASON, had multiple at-large NCAA bids, etc. These things were done against the likes of Cincy, Louisville, Memphis, Marquette, etc. So, in summary----we don't want to hear it. If our history doesn't mean anything, then neither does yours.

History is history. All it can be now is a goal for current teams. Look at our WBB. I just want them to WIN period right now. They dont have to make the NCAA tourney, but that is the ultimate goal. We all want to win, sadly, we all can't.

RE: This conference is awful
WKU has been in D1a (fbs) since 2009. I shall list a few of your fine university's highlights below.......

WKU's first FBS year resulted in a 0–12 record in 2009

2010-2012 In Taggart's three seasons, the Hilltoppers went 2–10, then back to back 7–5 seasons that included an upset of Kentucky in Lexington in 2012, WKU was defeated 21- 24 in the 2012 Little Caesar's Bowl by Central Michigan

Bobby Petrino era (2013)[edit]
Former Arkansas head coach Bobby Petrino was hired as the new head football coach following Taggart's departure.[7] In the news conference announcing Petrino's hiring in December 2012, athletic director Todd Stewart called the hiring a "landmark moment" in the history of WKU football.[8] Petrino led the team to a second straight win over Kentucky in August 2013, his first game as the Hilltoppers head football coach.[9] The Hilltoppers finished the 2013 regular season with an 8–4 record but were snubbed from a bowl appearance.

On April 1, 2013, it was announced that Western Kentucky would join Conference USA in all sports effective July 1, 2014.[10]

In January 2014, it was announced that Petrino would leave WKU to accept the head football coach position at Louisville

2014-2015 Brohm led WKU to an eleven-win regular season in 2015, highlighted by an undefeated conference record, WKU's first appearance in the top 25, and a Conference USA championship (beating Southern Miss in the championship game)

There it is.........the great WKU football history in modern day times and since becoming FBS. Impressive. I don't think I left anything out.

That's all fine and dandy but don't ***** about the conference because you got your ass kicked by Akron. Same for USM and Troy.

Some boys need to stop blaming CUSA just cause your team "sucks"! Proud to be in the same conference with Marshall and Southern Miss; but I'm just as proud of Charlotte, ODU, La Tech, UTSA, Rice, FAU, FIU, UAB, Western, UTEP, and North Texas. Don't think more of The Herd or Golden Eagles because you 've won a couple of Conference Championships; than I do of the ones that have never won it. Every University in this Conference has a Legitimate Reason for being in CUSA and if you jokers live long enough you just might see every CUSA Colleague take home the Crown! In other words, USM and Marshall ain't gonna always be Big Cahunas!!!!! So, GET OVER IT.

Hey Rook, I've been here listening to the leftovers whine about how they're too good to be in this conference since we joined in 2012. As far as I can tell all it's ever gotten them is their panties further in a bunch. If it keeps you warm at night telling old war stories then have at it. But we're going to call you out on it grandpa. We know USM's history.

As I said in another thread..this would be the best conference formed that would be head and shoulders above the current CUSA and The AAC:

A 16 member conference! More regionalized, better attraction for fans and recruits for all involved....which would equal to better competition and National Prominence!!!
(7 from CUSA, 9 from The AAC)

North**

East Carolina

Marshall

Middle Tennessee

Rice

Cincinnati

Western Kentucky

SMU

Tulsa

**South**

UAB

Memphis

Southern Miss

Houston

Tulane

La Tech

UCF

USF

Your basketball history and tradition does mean something and I have defended it every time someone asks why are you here. Charlotte, UAB and WKU have the longest BB tradition. Southern Miss' basketball has been like a roller coaster. Up down. Up down. Repeat.
