I can assure you we don't....it's the g5 in totality that is getting the size 12 shoveled up the johnny q.'s arse....

there is a difference between reality and perception.....and it's only the latter that is being sold to the masses....

to deny that is to deny breathing as a fundamental

too many fans are being corralled into the pen......has been my issue from realignment day 1....

fighting that with a g5 budget coupled within the current construct is a huge problem from the average fan's perspective....

the ncaa/state gov'ts are allowing this to slowly dissolve into the greed that is muh media.....

that means something to me relative to ethics....

A few years ago I came to a conclusion that changed my life or at least the way I live life changed. There is very little you control in this world. I no longer worry about what espn shows or doesn't show. Or CBS, ABC, NBS, or FOX or any other TV station. If I want to see my team play it's on me to get there...no matter where the games at. I remember a time not so long ago that I had to get on top of my house and turn the antenna to try and get the Western station 70 miles away...or listen to the game.

I no longer worry about who Western is playing...I go to see Western play. I enjoy watching my team. If the conference is having a bad year, so what. At the end of the year nothing really changes because other teams I expected to win are losing. Western still has a 95% chance of going to the same bowl(s) that we had if everyone was winning. JUST WIN!

I decided life is getting too short to worry about what someone else thinks...that's something I haven't conquered completely. I'm way to competitive to live by that all the time. But it's got better. If you can't change it...don't let it consume you. If it's out of your control... don't let it consume you. In football terms let the season play out...one loss is just that, 1 out of 12. If it gets to the point you don't enjoy it...walk away, do something else.

Don't let it consume you. I say that and I'm a person that schedules just about every decision based on Western's football and basketball schedule. But then again I enjoy watching Western play. If Western loses there is always the next game...till there are no more. Stop blaming...nothing is worse than always looking to put blame on someone. As much as I would like I know Western is not going to win them all....

This is starting to look like basketball last season. Everyone pretty much sucked OOC but the conference match ups turned out pretty interesting and in the end we weren't as bad as we seemed at first. Hopefully that's the case here as well.

Sure we got drowned tailgating (and then attacked by all kinds of insects fleeing the flood!) then we lost a heart breaker game that could've been "the one to talk about" if the literal last second pass had been caught! BUT my tailgate group still had a blast just enjoying being together and socializing! The 0-fer year taught us that. (It had to become about something more than the game!)

Agree - it's been kinda funny seeing all of the Marshall and Southern Miss fans with the 'we suck' comments referring to the conference instead of just taking their unexpected loss and referring to their own team's issues. I don't disagree that our conference is weak this year, but the arrogance behind these comments is pretty hilarious especially coming from Marshall who has a losing record (1-4) against MT and WKU since we joined.

Sure, we lost to Vandy, but at least it was on the road to an SEC team. Not the same no matter how bad you Vandy is. I'm still disappointed in how we played but at least we didn't call out the entire conference for our own loss.

As always, I know it's not all fans, but the select vocal few are pretty ridiculous at this point.

That's only because your schedules never had games against Houston, ECU, Memphis, UCinn., Tulsa, Louisville, Tulane and the likes each year, with a winning record against all but Cincy. Included in the schedule were usually 3 SEC teams, or later ACC, Big XII, Big East teams like NCState, Okla. State, Illinois, UVA, Kansas, Texas A&M, Pitt, TCU, Cal, and Nebraska, who came to The ROCK to play. Now its an occasional P5 (MSU last year and UK next year) and the conference schedule with North Texas, UTEP, Rice, UTSA, Charlotte, ODU, FIU, FAU, LaTech UKU, MTSU and Marshall, several of which were not even playing football a few years ago or where FCS.

You don't have 5 wins and a tie over Bama, multiple wins over Auburn, wins over LSU, Georgia and more than I can remember against MSU and OM. Not to mention wins over Nebraska, Pitt, Kansas, UVA, NC State, Okla. State, Illinois and TCU. SouthernMiss (until the disaster that was E. J. ELLLLLLLLLLLLoss) has a long tradition of winning FB against quality competition, that is being revived. It was among the top 20 teams in winning percentage until the 0-12 and 1-11 seasons, but still remains in he top 30. 5 conference titles and the Coach of the Decade for the first decade of CUSA. a three year stretch of 4-32 would have killed most programs, but not ours. We came back and won the west last year and are not out of the conference hunt for this year.

Yeah, we got left out of the realignment. But not because of performance on the field. Because of things we can't control. Being the third FBS school in a small, poor state with 2 SEC schools and witin 2 hours of Bama, 3 hours of Auburn and 11/2 to 2 hours of LSU.

When your Resume` is that good, come back and tell us to quit bitching.
