Do we need a change at Offensive Coordinator/ play calling and when should it take place?

Offensive linemen
Good passing QB
Faster and more athletic wide receivers.
Better defensive backfield.
Kickers.

We just have too many holes. Some may improve with experience, but we really need better recruiting.

I'm afraid you're right. Do we have better players red shirting? or is it more of the same?

I think the O Line is very young so they may get better, though they are getting schooled tonight. The rest, I am not sure. Is Shuler Bentley or Drayton Arnold the answer? Hard to say.

Constantly attempting to run up the mid against Appy and NCSU when their interior d lines are so good is pointless.

My complaints against this OC are
1. No creativity
2. The calls are predictable
3. Hardly any drag or crossing routes when the d has clearly been wide open in the middle of the field.
4. Running on 3rd and long
5. No two TE sets
6. 3 years straight with the exact same offense.

Well at least the HC and DC are safe from AH's crosshairs this week.

When the vast majority of this thread vote for change at OC its a legitimate topic for discussion.

As for the poll created last week for change with coaching staff nearly 75% voted for some type of change to be made.

I say get rid of this ******* OC. It was very frustrating to watch up the gut calls when you know you are running into a wall. No creativity and no mixing it up.

I chose one of the two main options, but find it funny that "No" isn't an option or is presumed to be lumped in with "other."

If you told me we would score 3 tds on NC St, I would be excited. Offense wasnt great but considering the circumstances, it wasnt terrible.

Hopefully DW gets comfy bc if he does we will score a lot of points over the next few games.

Who are we firing next week? Strength Coach?

Yes, because your poll last week had three agreeing options and an "other."

If I say i want a new car, then ask my friends whether I should get a Nissan, Chevy, Ford, or Other, the presumption isn't that keeping my current car is a viable option because they're generally thinking Other would mean another type of car. Just sayin'

This is a very tough crowd. I'd be interested to know the football backgrounds of a few of our fellow posters. I thought ODU hung fairly well with NCSU. Our O-Line is very young and Malone has a ton of work to do with them. If he coaches and recruits half as well as he played at VT, he'll get those boys straight soon.

The reason VT has done so well for such a long period of time, along with quite a few other programs, is continuity of coaching. Hell, even Fuente wasn't stupid enough to start with a completely clean slate in Blacksburg this year. If your program is constantly hiring and firing coaches, the players will just spin their wheels trying to learn new systems.
