Week Two Sun Belt Football Players of the Week
Offensive Player of the Week

Marcus Cox (Appalachian State, Sr., RB, Management)
Cox had his 24th career 100-yard game and three touchdowns by halftime as App State rolled to a 31-7 win over Old Dominion on Saturday. The senior had touchdown runs of 1-yard, 2-yards, and 10-yards to help the App build a 24-7 halftime lead. The game was the sixth in his career ith three rushing touchdowns and his first since the middle of 2014. He broke a 20-yard run on the opening drive to set up the Mountaineers in the red zone for their initial score. Cox is averaging 124 yards per game and 5.9 yards per carry this season.

Defensive Player of the Week

Rodney Butler (NM State, LB, Sr., Marketing)
Rodney Butler demolished his previous career-high of 17 tackles on Saturday night as he racked up 24 to lead the defensive efforts in a 32-31 win over Battle of I-25 rival New Mexico. This was the first time the Aggies have defeated the Lobos since 2011. Butler amassed 15 tackles in the first half. This was the first time an Aggie has had 20+ tackles since 2013. In addition, Butler was just two tackles shy of the single-game record 26 tackles at NM State.

Special Teams Player of the Week

Parker Davidson (NM State, K, So., General Business)Parker Davidson was the highlight of the Aggies’ 32-31 victory over Battle of I-25 rival on Saturday night in Aggie Memorial Stadium. The sophomore kicker was perfect on the night with a career-high 4 field goals made on 4 attempts. This is the first time an Aggie has kicked four or more field goals since 1998. In addition, Davidson hit a personal-best 45-yard field goal in the first quarter to put the Aggies on the board. Davidson then kicked a 30-yard field goal in the fourth quarter to make it a one-score game before the Aggies scored the go-ahead touchdown. In addition to his field goals, Davidson hit two extra points to give NM State the one-point victory.
