On to the next game.

I see that WKU is only favored by 17 on the road in Oxford this weekend. Must be fighting through a food poison outbreak at the Hilltoppers training table.

Considering our battles of late with Moo-U I hope the team doesn't let down after the disappointing loss.

If Miami wins does that go down as a tomahawk win?

I think Miami is being a good host....not only are they everyone's homecoming body bag game, they let other teams come to Oxford to get road homecoming body bag wins, too. Very neighborly of them.

(09-12-2016 03:32 PM)OKIcat Wrote:  I think we all felt UC would achieve some separation from Miami with the Big East affiliation and that's exactly what happened. But more puzzling has been an almost total collapse of the Miami football program. They were the cradle of coaches, frequent MAC champions and had often been giant killers in regular season and bowl games against larger, established programs. With that tradition, strong undergraduate reputation and picturesque campus it would seem they were well positioned to dominate the MAC perennially.

Their alumni should rightfully be questioning both their President and athletic department leadership about this sad state of affairs. And with the MAC at the low end of the G5 in terms of revenue, it doesn't look good for the Redhawks to ever be what they once were.

So the biggest threat to UC continuing to dominate the series would be a Bearcat letdown after upsetting Houston. Only UC can beat UC these days when it comes to the game against Miami.

Basically our previous president was somewhat hands-off regarding athletics, which would've been fine except our previous AD is possibly the worst in the nation. After we won the MAC in 2010 we were in great position to bring back the winning, but he hired one of the worst head coaches in conference history. We've had a different AD for about three years now and he's invested a ton into the program and other sports, I'd expect football to turn it around in a year or so. Basketball is a lost cause the rest of the decade at this point, but at least hockey is usually good. Our brand new president is from Notre Dame, so I'd expect the overall trajectory of our athletic department to move up over time.

The past three Miami teams have been among the worst in school history, yet we've found a way to hang on and make the game very close against Tubs. I do not think he takes this game very seriously and frankly we don't deserve to be nowadays, but it shows how easy it is to slip up. Our 2013 team, perhaps the worst in MAC history, was tied with you midway through the 4th. Our 2014 team, on the way to a 21-game losing streak, was a yard away from tying late in the 4th. Last year we were up by a field goal with a minute left. Each year this board insisted that the previous games were fluke and you'll kill us for real this year; that may be true, but watch out or next thing you know you'll be leaving Nippert really pissed off next Saturday.

RE: (Oh No!) One Sided Battle for the Victory Bell
A couple of thoughts...
I am not worried so much about "let down" because we lost to Houston as I am about:
-coming out of the Houston game physically dinged up at key positions.
-a mental let-down just because it's impossible to be that psyched up for every game.
-"looking past" MoO towards the USF because (1) they are a MAC team, (2) USF embarassed us last year and now we want payback, and (3) it's non-conference and the coaches are fixated on the "divisional" standings.

We didn't look past Purdue...but there is some reason to worry about the Miami game.

I think UC wins a squeaker. Much too close for comfort.

If it's a nail biter against a dreadful team for a 4th year in a row we must feel bad for them...no other explanation. Miami is awful...yet again.

Yeah, but this is the game Miami can get "up" about... It should be their biggest game of the season.

So anything can happen in those circumstances.

Cry-ami always gets up for this game. They truly are an example of the mantra - we can lose every game, but if we beat our rival the season is a success. I expect no different this year.

Many Cry-ami fans feel Tubs over looks them. I do not think so. I think he truly views this as a rivalry game, where the game is a toss-up. BK and Lyle knew it was a rivalry, however felt UC was on a different level. They expected to win and win big.

My hope is we come out an play as we did against Purdue. Push Cry-ami around and blow this one out. My prediction after last year's debacle, was this might be the year Cry-ami steals one. I hope that is not the case. We need to tie up this series.

Nah, if the D plays as physical against the foreskins as they did against Houston, Miami won't cross midfield.

We'll be rougher on those Foreskins than a drunken rabbi.

I want to wreck these fools. Like, obliterate them. Eviscerate them. I want a continuation of how hard and physical we played from two days ago.

Don't let them stay in this game this year. No reason for that sh!t these past few years, and no reason for it this year.

I can't wait for next week, ready to forget the Houston game. It's a stripe the stands game, so check what color your section is. And here's hoping they either go all black on the unis or go black-red-black.
