To all Buc Fans and Closet Buc Fans.....The time is now.
For years I heard all the reasons why ETSU cannot be a first class University, nor have a first class athletic program. I don't have to rehash all those reasons, we've all heard them.

The University now has dynamic leadership that has done more in three short years to move the University forward in all areas than anyone could have imagined.

What is lacking to take the ETSU to the next level? IMO its unabashed, total commitment by the populace. What is the difference in Appy State, Georgia Southern, Old Dominion, North Dakota State, etc......fans, thousands of fans dressed in BLUE and GOLD, yelling their heads off , creating a hostile atmosphere, causing headaches for the opposing team, being a true disruptive supporting fan base.

This Saturday ETSU will play their opening SoCon game against Western Carolina at Bristol Motor Speedway ( Something that probably will never happen again ).

WILL YOU BE THERE SUPPORTING THE BUCS.

The Bucs took on the chin last year playing a roster that was nearly all freshman but they never gave up. They worked their butt off during the off season to become a stronger, faster and wiser team. They got up at 6am and lifted weights, ran sprints,
did all types of conditioning, plus went to school. They went into their first game on the road, in front of a capacity home crowd, against a Kennesaw team that beat them badly last year, a 26 point underdog. I'll be willing to bet my next paycheck that 95% of everyone picked Kennesaw to win.

BUT THE BUCS WON.

The Bucs IMO have already proved they are much better this year. Can they beat Western Carolina, yes, but it will take a tremendous effort and that effort can be raised to a higher level by having a big, huge turnout by BUC FANS.

I don't expect the Bucs to win every game because the Bucs are still young but they are putting in the work to be better and they deserve to have the support of true BUC FANS.

Get your buddies, your family, your neighbors, your co-workers, your classmates, load up the SUV , the van and get to the game and cheer on the BUCS.

I hear people say they want better programs, they want a bigger stadium, they want video boards, they want a winner. How do you get those things, by being in the stadium, in Freedom Hall, donating your time and money.

The administration, the athletic department, the students and the players of all sports are doing the right things to provide a University that everyone can be proud off, now its time for the fans to get on board.

CURRENT BUC FANS, CLOSET BUC FANS, BANDWAGON FANS, the Bucs need you at every game, become the twelve man, its fun and its rewarding.

I'LL SEE YOU AT BRISTOL, I'LL BE THE ONE DRESSED IN BLUE AND GOLD.

GO BUCS.......GO BIG BLUE

Saw where the turf from the BMS field could be headed to ETSU for the new stadium.

The field being donated to ETSU has been rumored for a long time- surely they will have some sort of announcement to that effect. BMS deserves some good PR if they do donate the field to the Bucs.

You good sir are what every successful program must have to succeed, a great fan/fans. I have lived in VA Beach for the last 34 years and one of the biggest keys to the fast start of ODU football has been their fans. So far they have sold out every home game (49 & counting) at over 20,000+ no matter who they are playing or the conditions. Labor Day weekend we got the remains of a hurricane that flooded much of the area and caused a lot of wind damage. As a result ODU's home opener had to be moved at the last minute to Sunday afternoon. The game was already sold out but many wondered how many folks would actually show up, maybe 50%? Nope when the team took the field it was estimated 90 to 95% of the fans were there and the HC, Bobby Wilder, commented on how amazed he and the team was by the turn out. Probably more than anything else that fan support has made the restart of ODU Football (dropped at the start of WW-2) a success. I was on the team at ETSU, met my wife there and still remember it all very fondly. When the new stadium is built I hope to make it back for a game and I hope you and those like you will be making ETSU football the success it deserves to be.

RE: To all Buc Fans and Closet Buc Fans.....The time is now.
You have indeed pointed out the most important problem that we have. I just don't know how you magically solve it. We have more blue and gold merchandise all over the place than we ever have (even though I can't find a stadium cushion anywhere), and an administration that has made some bold moves. Unfortunately, we just live in an area that has a neutral attitude toward the university as a whole and certainly about our athletics.

Serious question- We are playing at a venue next week where there will be over 100k empty seats. Is there a reason why we only had a set allotment of student tickets? Seems like we would have wanted to bring every possible student that was interested to the game.

Wore my ETSU shirt to the Va Tech UT game and had an encounter with a UT fan from Johnson City that really irked me. They said, "I'd rather wear a VA Tech shirt than an ETSU one". A prime example of whats wrong with some of the populace in Johnson City.

UT fans are dicks. It has been quite documented. Last year leaving the UT ETSU game had 3 different people shout, "BUCS SUCK" walking back to my car. Just let them enjoy their terrible school and every year under performing sports teams.

That is typical, I just hope we can take them down this December at Freedom Hall!

I hope we don't just take them down but obliterate them. It's probably unlikely but 20+ point victory would be beautiful.

Paul Fortenberry from Volquest.com specifically said today on the Midday 180 radio show on 104.5 The Zone Nashville that the turf was going to be donated to ETSU. Didn't mention the locker rooms, but that's been a rumor as well. I'm glad they're doing that for the stadium, that's a HUGE donation considering that style of turf costs around 750 thousand dollars not counting the equipment to maintain it.

You know it really gets to them when they're mad enough to yell at you. Sounds like they're pissed about almost getting beat by poor little ETSU. Maybe they aren't as big and bad as they thought.

Again, jealous you would rather support ETSU than UT. I had someone yell "Go Bucs" at me with my ETSU gear on Saturday.

I started this thread hoping to make people more aware of the game this week and to please support the BUCS. I come back to the board today and find it has been highjacked by conversation of UT, the possibility of BMS giving turf to ETSU and next year the atmosphere will be great at the football games. What the heck?

The BUCS have a game THIS WEEK, this SEASON is just getting underway. How about supporting the BUCS now. Who cares what the ut crowd says. We will take care of them in Nov. Hopefully BMS will donate the turf and lockers but neither of these subjects have any bearing on the game this week or this years season. What does have a bearing on the future of BUCS sports is the FAN SUPPORT.

IF BUC NATION REALLY WANTS A TOP NOTCH PROGRAM, THEN ITS TIME TO PUT UP OR SHUT UP
