Millennials more conservative than you may think
Very interesting,

Additionally, millennials are more likely to identify as conservative than either Generation Xers or Baby Boomers were at the same age, said Jean Twenge, professor of psychology at San Diego State University and lead author of the paper.

So, you're saying that a small percentage of the millennials are causing all the protests and "other" problems. I don't buy that. I think many millennials aren't really that "informed" and just go with the flow in order to belong to the wider audience of belligerents. If you don't believe me just ask anyone of them sample questions, like who is the vice-president. You know easy ones.

RE: Millennials more conservative than you may think
I am always pleasantly surprised by the number of Millennials that support 2nd Amendment rights.

I know a lot of Millennials who have zero interest in ever firing a gun, not even once, but I know only a few of those same Millennials who support anything but common sense firearm restrictions. Generally, those for draconian restrictions or gun confiscation are the same Millennials that also support things like, oh............. socialism, single payer health care, heavy government regulations on just about anything, and any number of far-left wingnutery.

So there is hope.

You're damn right!

We are not the group the media wishes we were.

We are more conservative than most think because we are the family of massive youth un and underemployment, broken families, and social unrest.

And, for the record, I'm a conservative millennial that has very little interest in gun ownership. I guess that's the European side of my upbringing.

RE: Millennials more conservative than you may think
Reminds me of a study I saw a year or two ago that said that something like 52% of Millennials support capitalism to 40% for socialism with the rest undecided, but the split became closer to 60/30 when you phrased it as "ownership and means of production in private control" versus "ownership and means of production by the government." What that says, I don't know, but it gives me hope that they're not a relatively high amount of Bernie supporting socialists.

Regarding my experiences on campus right now: There does exist an underground movement of conservatives. Most just don't speak up because the gulag like punishment handed out. But it is there.

RE: Millennials more conservative than you may think
I think the point the article makes is that we are a divided nation politically. As a Gen X'er, when I was in my late teens and early 20s I don't think there was much of a political divide with my generation. The more progressive wing of the generation was not as far to the left and on the other end of the spectrum people were not as conservative. IMHO the more extremism you have them more likely you are going to have polar opposites.
