"middling football program?" "MIDDLING F'ING FOOTBALL PROGRAM?" Why you little..... I'll show you middling football program, punk! C'mere you!
Read the article twice and I don't see that quote. Must've edited it out.
Hah! They sure did! I must have scared them. It was in the fifth paragraph right after "The reason for Felder abandoning his top-tier program" (for a middling football outfit). That's too funny.

That needs fixing.
Like the one and done basketball players who take the minimum easy hours the first semester and then leave school to get ready for the draft after the season is over, usually failing all of their classes.
i am in the other camp on grad transfers. reward the kid who goes to college and takes a heavy class load and gets his degree in 4 years. if he wants to go to his hometown school (Myers) or a cool well run mid sized program somewhere far away (carter, powell) that will coach him up and get him on the field better than that big name team he played 4 years for... whatever the reason. that kid is now a young man with a degree and 1 last year of football eligibility. true, some spend a semester at that school. some a year. some come back over time and finish a masters or MBA or JD. others go pro representing their final school (rawls at cmu)
this is completely different than the basketball players who don't play for their hometown or neighborhood school. go to high school basketball academies. and intend to go to college for most of a year before they go pro. those kids are the product of recruiting system gone bad. an education system that has produced new niche high schools for kids with money or special talents, but doesn't give resources or institutional control to many of the better neighborhood schools. a rolling with tv cash nba that is happy to see the best talents focus largely on basketball instead of life and make them draft eligible at 19.
this is a place where toledo has an advantage in the current landscape of big time college football. we already play at that level- just don't always get the credit and always piss our pants against NIU. The kids who are natural recruits for us 3 star types who would do well at UT, usually get enticed with an offer from big state U. often they are not the top recruit at their position and while good never become the starter. at toledo they can find a role. be a team player and get on the field more, most likely. the kid moore from Miami (Fla) was forever stuck behind some hot shot florida recruit at his dline position. he's solid, just not a big play maker at a school that expects the spectacular. he comes to ut to be a rotation guy. then, a DT (Marquis Moore) gets suspended and he's the guy next to hester for opening night on espnu. not miami-Florida State on ESPN but more rewarding for him. we didn't need him to be a star. we recruit and develop those players over time. i'll take moore, a 22 year old man with a degree and some humility for a year at the position we need a little depth.
the big schools can't really do this in football (basketball, yes). it's a situation that can really help a good mid size program cover a potential weakness.

Well, Meyers is not currently listed on either on-line roster (UT or Miami). I don't see his name in a couple participation lists I looked at from the ASU game. That doesn't mean he isn't at UT practicing with the team, though. Maybe some paperwork had to come through before he can be listed.

It's a shame that Miami is struggling as it is a once proud program with an beautiful campus, great academics and an awesome party scene.
Miami will be alright with this newer coach. they have some good young offensive talent and are getting solid recruiting classes. the defense looks like it will take a while to improve, but I see them playing more exciting football by MAC season this year.
So, I guess the answer was yes, he's played, but pretty much as a reserve. This is probably a case where he was lured initially by the bright lights of big 14 football, where he could have come to UT and started 3-4 yrs and been all MAC.
being 2nd string on the MSU defense is good. unfortunately, at a school like that if you don't become a starter by your jr year your snaps are usually given to an up and coming phenom.
