Toughest teams on our schedule
BYU
WMU

CMU
AKRON
FRESNO

NIU
stAte
Ball State
EMU
OU
Maine

BG

.... So hard to judge after week one but we can tell BYU and WMU are the Marquee games and that BG will be bad. EMU should have a better offense, and CMU has a great QB. Maine and Fresno impressed me in week one. Maybe those will bump up or down after a few weeks. NIU played for 6 hours in 8,500 foot elevation... I'll wait to put a ton of stock in that game.

I wouldn't draw an x through BG just yet. The Columbus a Juggernauts are gonna lay hurts on a lot of teams. I'll feel much better AFTER we take number seven in a row. Until we do everything is speculative- they aren't THAT bad.

They will not beat MTSU nor Memphis. That's 1-3 OOC. They play NIU and Toledo as crossovers. Giving them one loss on their side to say Akron... and they can only hope for .500. Miami and OU will give them all they want I'm sure. Is 4-8 BGSU so hard to hope for!?04-chairshot

I agree that WMU and BYU deserve top billing at this point.

Below that I would probably put CMU & NIU---after six straight losses, I am not willing to discount NIU just yet but I am hoping that the NIU curse on Beckman & Campbell does not extend to Candle----so far I like what I have seen of Candle on game day---he is not afraid to play to win rather than sit on a lead and play not to lose.

You can never totally discount a rival such as BG, even when they may be having a down year. So next I would put BG and everybody else except the bottom group.

If you have to have a bottom group, I would pick Maine (because they are FCS), EMU (general principles) and stAte (since the Rockets have already won that one).

RE: Toughest teams on our schedule
let's watch a few games first. the only teams that showed something definitive were western and buy. both are gonna be good. how good, how healthy, we'll see.

bg and niu still have offensive talent and players with experience in successful systems.

akron we'll know something next week after they play wisconsin.

i though arkansas state had a hell of a line and pretty good back 7 on defense. on offense they looked the part but didn't seem to really know what to do and their center had a ruben carter nightmare snapping the ball.

It has been mentioned Toledo is a trap game for BYU, who looked big and athletic against Arizona from what I saw. Maine could be Toledo's trap game. Maine played a good game against UConn. Toledo better come out strong. Toledo's rival will never be an easy game, especially with a 5 game win streak.
