This. The one thing I hate about fanatics is the constant degrading of teams with no reason. 90% of the college football world hates on our conference and teams you think we would take it easy on others or atleast scratch the surface to see if the teams are any good.
FCS has 10-15 programs that are really trying to win every year and are decently funded. NDSU is at the top of that list. It is super rare to get two top FCS teams to play OOC due to trying to get 8 wins and make the playoffs. NDSU would be the favorite going up agaist half the FBS if not more.
Several rankings around 2013 & 2014 had NDSU around #17 in all of college football. I believe it. They have been that good at times.
No offense to NDSU, but the FBS teams that they have beaten wouldn't be likely to be in the top half of the Sun Belt in those respective seasons. They would likely compete for a Sun Belt championship but would fall somewhere between 1 and 6 in the conference which would place them at around a ranking of 45 to 105.

That 2013 team was probably better than any G5 team was that year, I s**** you not. I will say that much for them. Their other 4 national championship teams are not any better than the GS teams from 98-01 or App State teams from 2005-2008.
I will say it again, though, when the marquee non-conference matchup for the FCS is NDSU versus Charleston Southern things aren't like they once were in the FCS. Charleston Southern would not have a winning record in any G5 conference this year or last.

Just glad to see some college football. Charleston Southern better tighten those chinstraps and Hawaii and Cal are probably glad they don't open with the Bison.

ESPN had gold in their hands last year by putting NDSU at Montana as the FCS feature game. That was a hell of a game too.
This one? It'll likely be over early.
Everyone will get to see what playing in that tin can is like though.

Just for the record, the year that NDSU beat Kansas State... that same Kansas State team blew out ULL 48-27 the week after. That same ULL team only lost 2 games in the Sunbelt that year and went on to win a bowl game. That same Kansas State team had wins over WVU, Iowa State, Texas Tech, TCU, Kansas, ULL, UMass...10 point losses to Texas, Oklahoma and Baylor...and a 4 point loss to Oklahoma State. They also went on to trounce Michigan in a bowl game. Don't think there would have been a single team in the Sunbelt that would've beaten them in 2013.

And although it pertains to the previous year, it should beer noted that K State WAS the defending Big 12 Champion

Looked like NDSU was really missing last year's QB even though they still won in OT.

No matter how you view their opponents, 5 P5 wins over Kansas, Kansas St, Iowa St, and Minnesota twice is impressive. Plus wins over Colorado St, Ball St, and Central Mich. Besides giant slayers ULM, who among us can claim that kind of success over P5's? When you compare resources between N Dakota St and the P5's they've beaten it's even more impressive.
