BEER / Trophy Room?
For those in Chicago that can't make it to Wyoming, anybody interested in a watch party at one of these bars?

BEER is kind of a $hithole in Wrigley but it's cheap and usually a decent environment to watch. Trophy Room is being hyped more as the new NIU bar but it's in River North and wayyy more expensive. I'm down for either, just wanted to see if anyone else was planning on watching at the bar?

Hey BEER is a fun place to drink! Bonus points cuz they'll give you a free drink or two when you show up with NIU gear during a Cubs game

I agree, I personally like BEER and have been watching NIU games there for the past 5/6 years, just unfortunately a lot less NIU fans show up there than they used to and most people tell me they won't be bc it's $hithole haha

Just wish they would start flying the NIU flag outside again so people actually knew it was an NIU bar

Shithole was a poor word choice. I just meant it is more a of a dive bar. However it is a fun time and they have a NIU beer pong table, one of those punching machines and a damn good deal on game day (25 bucks for burger and fries and unlimited beers during the game). It just couldn't be more opposite than Trophy Room which makes it an interesting decision of which bar takes off more for NIU games this season

Anyways Bar is owned by an NIU Grad. There is on in Bloomingdale and Villa Park. They usually have good deals during NIU games.

Beer is a dive bar but its an niu bar. I've seen a few games there and the guy who runs it is from dekalb I believe and does a nice job. If I can't go to a road game I go to Beer. The problem with thw Wyoming game is the 9:30 kickoff Chicago time. The game may exceed the bar's regular closing time

Trophy Room has $5 bombs and 22oz Bud Lights for games. Not that expensive. Also NIU fans can sign up for a free $25 gift certificate right now.

The guy is always there for niu. I like giving the business to the small guy. Had a pretty big crowd for the Buckeye game. He'll reserve you a table, burger is surprisingly good.

I went there and asked if they had any light beer as part of the promotion. None. Something like Old Milwaukee, PBR and even some better beers. But not one light beer. To most, not a big deal, but when you are diabetic and knocking back a few it is a big difference. I thought the beer selection was idiotic.

Trophy Room is a lot more, but they had happy hr til 7, so mixed drinks were like $3. More professional, older crowd. Rand into some older donors.

Beer gets fun and rowdy if its a good game and then get 40-50 NIU fans. Never done Trophy Room but I know they back NIU generously.
