Hope it works out for him. Maybe he rebounds and sets himself up for another DI head coach gig with the next opportunity. If he really was one of the nation's top defensive strategists as an assistant at UAB so many years ago, maybe he can find that fire again. If not, at least it's sunny in Tampa.

And all of a sudden Bartow is now the interim head coach at USF. Orlando Antigua was fired today.

And the bartow legacy continues........

Tulane's Kain Harris had a *career high* scoring night as they beat USF by 15 in Tampa.

Were you expecting him to automatically turn around the failing program?

No; of course not. I think you miss the point.

Being.........that when bartow was here, his teams routinely gave up career highs to guys never heard of before. On top of regular scorers doing it, too. And I mean routinely. 2-3 years ago, I went so far as to actually call for somebody to research if we held the NCAA record for giving up career nights. The vast majority of those efforts were due to our inability to guard the perimeter (a by-product of murry's slavish devotion to the zone). It got to the point where we were sometimes trying to guess which opposing player would have a career night against us before the game was played.

I'm in no way saying that because he was coach tonight, that that's why it happened. But it's absolutely a continuation of part of his legacy here. And that's why I put asterisks around "career night".

It's just absolutely uncanny:

"Matt Williams made 11 3-pointers and finished with 38 points, both career highs, and Central Florida rolled to an 86-64 victory over South Florida on Tuesday night." [ESPN]

I told my wife the same thing. "Career night " legacy continues with Murry.

Having said that ETSU let UNCG's big man have a career 3 pt night against us playing man.

We certainly have had more than our fair share of great 3 point shooters.

Nevertheless, we seem to bring out the best in others too. i blame Damon and Ramon !

LOLOL...I still have nightmares over Bartow's defenses and unwillingness or inability to adapt.

From the "You-can't-make-this-stuff-up Dept.".......

"Corey Henderson Jr. scored a career-high 22 points off the bench......to beat South Florida 79-67...." [ESPN]

Yet another one from that same dept.:

"Freshman Jarron Cumberland scored 18 of his career-high 26 points in the second half as No. 19 Cincinnati rolled to its 12th straight victory on Sunday, 94-53 over South Florida." [ESPN.com]
