Not so well it seems. See every week here.... http://www.sportsmediawatch.com/college-...v-ratings/

Check out how many times the AAC games finished DFL in the weekly ratings........

Worse than I thought, and I assure you they will be lucky to get 200,000 a team for the next go around.

Keep in mind a great rating game would draw in about 6 million viewers. So an average on a Saturday would be around 2-3 million. Bad would be where the AAC games ended up most of the time with about 60-70 thousand viewers. Now they did have some rated much higher, but these TV cities sucked for the most part.

On Saturday 10-3, big cities of New Orleans and Orlando, supported their teams with 73,000 viewers. (DFL)

On 10-16, Houston and New Orleans, only 185k (Fri. night)

10-17, Tulsa/Ecu, 62K (DFL-dead fckg last)

10-24, Tampa and Dallas, whopping 86k (DFL)

10-31, Tulsa and Dallas supported with 63k (DFL)

11-7, Orlando and Tulsa with 67k (DFL)

11-14, Tulsa and Cinci, 61k (DFL)

11-21, New Orleans and Dallas, 56k (DFL)

TV markets heh?

Reason and sanity has no place in this new world of football conference positioning...

Just go on the AAC board and see how inflated and important they THINK they are in the college football world...

IF college football had a SPORTSFACTS check similar to a POLITFACT truth-o-meter, the dumbarses on the AAC board would have a ship-load of PANTS-ON-FIRE ratings...

How many Mamphus and EZU fans became Old Mrs. wanna-be's in a few short years is mind-boggling..04-cheers

Exclamation RE: So just how did those big TV markets work out for the AAC in 2015?
Good info. And even though it does not make a difference , If I were Billy Mac I would point this out to Big 12 folks. I realize we will never get in , but truly believe a strong Southern football team like ours in the heart of SEC country SHOULD be of some interest to them. Hey, I can dream.....

RE: So just how did those big TV markets work out for the AAC in 2015?
TV money is drying up. Millenials (and others!) are cutting the cord at a brisk pace.

According to this article, http://goo.gl/hHnizi, ESPN has lost 10 million subscribers since 2013. This equates to approximately $840 million a year. 3 x $840 comes in at 2.5 billion dollars in lost revenue.

Almost all the sports channels seem to be in decline:

Quote:It's not just ESPN either, most sports networks are losing subscribers: ESPN2 lost over 1.5 million, FS1 lost 950,000 (though FS2 gained 736,000), NBC Sports Network lost 300k and the NFL Network lost 324k.

If the subscriber base continues to shrink, then ESPN could end up in the red.

Quote:What we don't know is this, what would happen if cord cutting eventually drove that number down to, say, 70 million subscribers? Then ESPN would bring in $5.6 billion and owe the sports leagues six billion a year.

So, it looks like the sports bubble has burst or will soon...

The era of big $ payouts for sports content is plainly over. The inertia of existing contracts is going to mask the obvious-ness of this for a little while longer, but any school or conference that pins their hopes on that gravy train continuing is in for a harsh reality check on the next renewal.

Espn will gets its money one way or another. Sling tv is now hosting espn streams. Streaming rating results are immediate and a lot more accurate. Its a new game.

No doubt the tv market concept has failed. Just look closely at cusa and even closer at the aac.

Number of tvs does not equate to actual viewers

About a year ago someone calculated what ESPN would cost if it was unbundled from the average monthly cable package. I don't recall exactly but it was a lot more than I would have thought it to be worth. I want to say it was like $30 a month. That seems like a high enough charge that they are going to have to drop it to avoid losing viewers the more they move to an unbundled model of subscription.

It's gradually becoming a new game. Time will tell who adapts fast enough to prosper, or even to survive, and whose eggs get eaten by tiny mammals...
