So excited to see what toughness last year's battle tested freshman/now sophomores provide and the depth from this freshman class should get everyone excited about the future of Owl basketball!

I dying to see if gumby (aka Quez) has bulked up a bit. If so, watch out.

If I may make one suggestion, it is that when linking RICE videos from Youtube, it may make sense to just paste the link, forcing us to go to the site and watch it there. That way people can click "like" there, subscribe to the channel, and maybe comment. Because the optics are terrible when some of these well produced videos have only 2 or 3 likes and no comments on Youtube.

I take it this is an official dead period for basketball as the coaching staff has been on vacation according to their tweets and Andrew and Egor are playing on short term international teams. With O-Week starting I did see the tweet of Harrison moving in to McMurtry so assume team activities will start shortly.

Also does anyone know why they have decided to push back Seal Training to the end of September?

Tiki, I believe they did it in mid-to-late September last year, as well. It was only Rhoades' first year did they do it in August, before classes officially started.

Looks like they've posted the new 2016-17 Men's Basketball schedule:

http://www.riceowls.com/sports/m-baskbl/...sched.html

season kicks off on 11/05/16 with an exhibition against
[Image: team-logo-olol.gif]Our Lady of the Lake.

first game is on 11/13/16 at
[Image: team-logo-jame.gif]James Madison U in Harrisonburg, VA.

1st home game is 11/16/16 against
[Image: team-logo-txso.gif]Texas Southern.

Interesting that conference play begins a bit earlier this year, 12/31/16 at
[Image: team-logo-oldd.gif] ODU in Norfolk, Va on new Years' Eve!!! Wonder how the attendance will be for that one?

Yeah, it was released about a month ago I think.

Interestingly, that game @ Nebraska-Omaha looks like a new addition.

We are also supposed to be playing @UT Arlington, at a date TBD.

I'm not really sure how we can play UTA at this point. We're already at 31 regular season games, and I thought 29 was the limit unless you're playing an exempt tournament (which we don't appear to be doing). But perhaps 31 is the new limit now, regardless whether you're playing in one of those exempt tournaments?

I wonder how season ticket sales are doing for both Women and Mens basketball?

Do we have a reason for a road trip to face the Mavericks from the Summit League, other than to remind the administration (or pick your favorite baseball Bugbear) what Omaha looks like?

Certainly not an inspiring game. No real gains location wise either. Omaha doesn't look great compared to the league on paper (looks like a middle of the pack team). If we're going to go into the smaller, lesser known leagues (Summit, MEAC, NEC etc.) it would be nice to play the top teams in the leagues.

Seems like a last minute fill-in. I guess you take what you can get at this point, although it would be surprising if they do not make a visit to Houston in the 2017-18 season.

Nebraska-Omaha isn't an attractive name but they had an RPI of 149 last year which is better than many of our opponents.
