Pound drops as manufacturing activity shrinks at fastest pace in over three years
Quote:UK manufacturing activity contracted at the fastest pace in more than three years after the Brexit vote as economic uncertainty saw companies step up the pace of job cuts, according to a closely watched survey.

Quote:The deterioration in new orders was the biggest since 1998, while job losses rose at the fastest rate for almost three-and-a-half years as bosses shed staff "to secure themselves against more possible bad news ahead", the survey showed.

"Without new orders coming through, this downward trajectory is likely to get worse, at least in the short term," said David Noble, chief executive at the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS).

Quote:The weaker pound also pushed up purchasing prices at the fastest rate in half a decade due to rising import costs. Larger corporations coped better with rising prices than small and medium sized enterprises, said Mr Noble.

Sterling slipped by as much as half a cent against the dollar and euro on Monday, to as low as $1.3160 and €1.1782 respectively.

So now they are back to where they were in April. Back when everyone thought they were staying.

Remind me again where the collapse is at. You all harped on th e massive damage to economies around the world, in a similar fashion to how yo uall said the poles would melt by 2012 due to global warming.

Maybe you didnt notice the the US economy has been on the kids for the entire first half of the year.

Look at those timelines... 3 years, 6 years, 12 years, and one thing going back more than a dozen.

Nobody said that Brexit would be without bumps, what was said is that *long term* Britain would be better off retaining more of her sovereignty than they would be going to the path to a European superstate.

For either side to hold up numbers after a few weeks is the height of silliness.
