He was unreal, Bill. I can't remember if it was Billboard or Guitar or another specialty magazine that said the he may have been one of the 5 most gifted guitar players to ever live.

Brad Webb played for the NMAS's, he's a good friend of mine, one of the finest blues guitarists Memphis has, and he sings his praises. My younger brother knew him well. He was an amazing talent who died much too young.

A few things about Shawn that many don't know:
He was actually left handed but played right handed.
He pretty much had eidetic (photographic) memory for things that were of interest to him. Eclectic and very esoteric to say the least.

I have a large record collection. Shawn was at my house going through my classical section. He found a recording of Honneger he had never heard. My amp was off for a repair so we took it to his house to listen. He listened to the record. When it finished he got up, went over to his piano and began playing it pretty much note for note. Actually much better. Then he began improvising things Honegger might have done at different points in the arrangement. Too bad Mozart and Shawn couldn't have lived in one or the others time frame and collaborated.
