yeah, QB can make a huge difference and cause you to win 4 more games than the previous year. But a DE? lol. no.

QB didn't win those games by himself every player is important. String enough good players togeather and good things can start to happen.

of course every player is important, but if you gave me an above average team, and told me I could add either a top class QB or top class DE, while staying average at the other position, I'm taking the QB. A standout player at QB can impact the game in a much bigger way than a DE. Look at Ga State. Perfect example. Without arbuckle, they would have been a 2 win team last year. And if their coach doesn't choke, they probably are an 8 win team. This year, if a new guy doesn't step up to arbuckle's level, they could be back to a 4 win team (not a prediction, just an example). A DE won't cause that big of a swing.

We've been adding several pieces to the active roster that didn't play last year. He's not the only high profile transfer we have on the roster. We have two from Auburn and if Jamarius Henderson gets a waiver, we're another "tiny bit" stronger. Our recruiting the last two years has been stellar so there's that. We should see marked improvement from Troy this year.

I'm not saying you guys won't be better. Just saying that if you are better this year, it won't be just because you got a DE transfer.

A DE recruit could make you guys better actually. Considering the close games you were apart of last season, one or two plays can make the difference in a win or a loss.

Against App, the Arkansas State offense was flailing in the first half and the defense managed to get some turnovers along with a defensive TD and we know how that game turned out.

Troy could've used that kind of pass rush in Boone as well considering how close that game was. Then you have the USA and Idaho games also decided by only one score. Solid teams are built from the inside out and the addition of a quality defensive end should not be overlooked.

Plus, you play Southern Miss and are going to need every bit of pass rush you can get to stop Nick Mullens.

You're preaching to the choir...with that said, we will be better in the front 7.

Troy and APP had the best pass rushers in the conference last season. There was little separation between the two squads in sacks and tackles for loss. Troy was 6th in rush defense last season and with DE Gnonkonde at 275 (according to Vic Koenning), DT Trevon Sanders at 325, and our new DT coach, we should be able to shore up those numbers.

I fully expect Troy to have a Top 2 Front Seven. Arkansas State's F7 is really good, but I don't think they're heads and tails better. APP and GS will certainly have something to say about it, though. Between us four there will be some really good lines.

Apps had the overall best defense the last 2 years, with this years squad I don't expect us to finish any lower than 2nd.

That is not true. Georgia Southern's defense was better. They were 1st in 2014 and 2nd in 2015. APP was 1st in 2015, but 5th in 2014.
