Above are two separate rankings of the top 100 Michigan girls high school basketball players. The top one is better, since it tells college commitments. UT's two Michigan commits are 20 and 29 on one list and 24 and 27 on the other. Central Michigan has numbers 11, 12, and 17 on the top list, including the top two rated players not going to high major programs.

All that being said, rating high school players is an inexact science, of course.

True, but woudn't you want the higher rated players?

Just remember not too many years ago UT signed reportedly the highest ranked player in UT history, in Kendyl Nunn. Look how that worked out. Players need to be able to fit the system too, and in Cullop's case that means being willing to play defense as hard or harder than offense. That will turn off a lot of players.

Nunn was supposedly the highest ranked MAC recruit ever. I believe her sister was rated much higher which might have pulled Nunn up but her collegiate career was spotty, as I recall.

Kendrick? She was rated highly as well but I thought Kendyl had another sister that wasn’t her brother. She does have two, but neither were the sister I thought of. Turns out the sister of whom I’m thinking is neither her sister or her brother. I think maybe there was another girl on her high school team who was an even bigger star than Kyndyl or her sister Kendrick who is her brother. Or maybe I’m confused.

I've been seeing a lot of positive press on Curry lately. If the hype is real for her and Wiard and Barnes, I think the back court is in good hands for the next 4 years. Now, about the front court...

Yea, with Mcintyre and Boyd graduating there could be a problem retrieving the guards missed shots.

UT commit Yani Curry injured her ankle in the 1st half of the district title game and didn't return and her team ended up losing the game. Hopefully nothing too serious.

Long article about Sophie Wiard and her team, along with a short video interview of Wiard. Our Michigan recruits, Wiard and Barnes, are the only ones still playing.

“She managed only two field goals on her way to fifteen points.” That’s a lot of free throws.

RE: WBB Recruiting
Might be worth a fan's time to watch the Notre Dame-Canton McKinley game on BCSN. A Freshman, Van Hooten who did a very nice job containing McKinley's 2-time Ms. Basketball who plays the entire court. Well, as well as one could hope to contain a 2-time Ms Basketball. Most importantly, she definitely held her own on both ends of the court. I see that their star is going to Kate Achtor's Chicago Loyola. She is not quite Cooke but also not quite not Cooke. Made a terrific play to win the game and is a heck of a leader. Missed one there I think.

And of course, Rogers keeps reloading and Central and the Sylvania's always seem to have someone to look at.

Kim Knuth, perhaps?

Boy, there was a waste of a scholarship, huh?

Loved watching her take over a MAC championship game against Kent State.

Yes, Knuth was an engineering major. Boy if we can get another even half as good as her.

Google also identifies Kristin Wichemeier, but she was a center, and Amanda Davis, a forward, as engineering majors.
