It doesn't snow much at the equator.

They pull this schit every Olympics. London was going to be a disaster too. My guess is the games go on without major incident.

This is probably the most likely scenario. It does seem like we hear this about every Olympics these days.. hell, the World Cup in Brazil was supposed to be a disaster and while it didn't exactly go off without a hitch, it was pretty much fine.

Could be wrong, I'm sure.

can you imagine that debacle? the carnage would have put the romans to shame. and at least Brazilian wimmins are unspeakably hot.

Those women are used and abused, especially in River of January (what river are they talking about in Rio anyways?). You can go to any major US/Canadian city and get no shortage of cheap sluts to line up for you.

The secret is out and everyone knows about them. You have to go other parts of Brazil to get any semblance of real quality and humility.

The equator? Rio is roughly as far south as Mexico City is north. Then again, we can say it doesn't snow much in the tropics and it works just as well. 04-cheers

The only Olympics I remember that had a major security problem was Atlanta, and by the way, Crooked Hillary was in the White House.

I was 8 when the Munich Olympics were rocked by terrorists. That was probably my first exposure to the fact that terrorism sucked, and athletics and politics absolutely mixed.

I miss Jim McKay.

I think there was some spring during that one, but I could be mistaken.

RE: Rio Olympics security...
Apparently they wanted Pele to light the cauldron tonight at the Opening Ceremonies but he said he couldn't, using his bad health as the reason why. Not that I don't believe him necessarily, but I do have my doubts as to whether that's the real reason. He released a song just a month ago for the Games, and I've seen other stories from this year saying he still would like to put on a pair of shorts and try to play for the Olympic team this summer.

My guess is the real reason is he wanted compensation to be the final torch bearer, and the local Olympic Committee (rightfully) said no. Pele has had financial difficulties and he probably wants one final time to cash in on his fame.

Sydney was 15 Sep-01 Oct 2000 so some winter, some spring.
Melbourne 1956 was 22 Nov-08 Dec, so all spring. Except equestrian events could not be held in Australia due to quarantine rules, so they were during prior summer in Stockholm.

Gunshots hit an Olympic media bus. No serious injuries at least.
