Texas A&M held a chalk talk for women the other night. That's not unusual as a lot of schools (Rice included) has special events trying to bring in different groups to support its program.

But the Aggies went a little too far in many folks' eyes in their re-writing of the Aggie War Hymn. Here's the version they submitted to the women Wednesday evening.

We are Aggie women
We are filled with estrogen
Hullabaloo, canek, canek, and back again
Maroon & white are the colors we love
We are putting down our dish towels
And taking off our gloves
No more lysol or cascade
We want to score Touchdowns
And walk in the parade
We are Aggie women & this is our song

Trying to make the meter fit the war hymn tune. Not quite sure how that works.

Might not appeal to some tradition bound old AGs. Admitting woman in the 1960s was controversial for many. There was not much problem about starting to admit blacks but women were a different matter.

The chronicle version left out some of the best parts...

OMG - my East Coast siblings will now even think less of Texas after this gets national. First Baylor and now this. Ridiculous.

It's a comprehensive story by "ESPN Staff Writer" and former Houston Chronicle Rice beat reporter, Sam Khan, Jr.

Also on the ESPN front page now is a wire story on the awful murder in Houston of former Aggie All-American Antonio Armstrong & his wife. their 16-year-old son has beencharged with murder.

I showed the lyrics to an Aggie Mom. she didn't say anything, but the expressions on her face said a lot.

Seemingly only in athletics (and maybe the DMV) can you do such a bad job and get a suspension.

I'd be fired at my job if I churned out work that was this quality.

Suspensions had less to do with the war hymn and more to do with the sexist descriptions of run and pass blocking technique.

One of the coaches involves was responsible for the Incognito situation with the dolphins.

On the bright side, Sumlin may be available if we are coach hunting next year. The Rice administration has perfected the silence the victim method of dealing with sexual assault cases, so we wouldnt have to deal with bad publicity like this.
