and says "I knew Ronald Reagan, I worked for Ronald Reagan. Donald Trump, you are no Ronald Reagan."
Doug Elmets, a staunch Republican who worked in the White House with former President Ronald Reagan, says he's going to vote Democratic for the first time in his life.
Love the juxtaposition here--
Reagan: Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!
Trump: We need a 30 foot wall!
FDR: We have nothing to fear but fear itself!
Trump: We're all gonna die!
Quote:“It is an honor to be here. Candidly, It’s also a shock Not because of the momentous nature of this event or the size of the crowd, it is a shock because unlike many of you, I'm a Republican. [Cheers]
Forty years ago, I cast my first vote for a president, voting like I would do, time and again. I have not just voted Republican, I worked in President Reagan's White House. I recently led an effort to place a statue of Ronald Reagan and California's capital. I'm here tonight to say, I knew Ronald Reagan, I worked for Ronald Reagan. Donald Trump, you are no Ronald Reagan. [Cheers]
President Reagan famously said tear down this wall. Trump says, build a wall, because that will make America great again? Reagan saw nuance and Trump sees the world as us verses them, where somebody with brown skin or a foreign sounding name is likely to blame for our troubles.
Reagan knew that a leader needs diplomacy to steer us safe . Donald Trump is a petulant, dangerously unbalanced reality star. He will coddle tyrants and alienate allies. [Cheers]
I shudder to think where he will lead our great nation. Fortunately, I don't believe he will get that chance. [Cheers]
While Hillary holds many policy positions differ from my own, her qualifications are indisputable. Hillary knows that our strength as a nation lies in uniting, not dividing. This year’s Republican platform is the most alarming I’ve ever seen. It is laced with anti-immigrant, anti-gay, anti-women positions that do not represent the views of most Americans.
That is why this year, I will vote for a Democrat for the first time. [Cheers]
To my fellow Republicans, if you believe like I do, if you believe that loyalty to our country is more important than loyalty to a party. If you want a president with good judgment, a steady hand and a temperament to represent our nation to the world, and our children, I ask is that you join me in voting for Hillary Clinton as president of the United States. [Cheers]”
Thank you.

Secret Awevice agent that was assigned to HRC for eight years says she's violent and angry individual. Also she had verbally assaulted him and physically hit another agent in that detail.
Shocker. An establishment republican dislikes Trump? That's sort of the point.
I don't like him, but I hope he gets elected for multiple reasons.
First, I think Hillary is a sleazy crook.
Second, it's time for an outsider. I'm done with the political caste running things out of right and getting rich while doing so.
Third, I hope Trump implodes the GOP and a new party rises from the ashes.
Fourth, and perhaps most importantly, if the country doesn't like Trump perhaps the Democrats put up a legitimate, qualified candidate that's not a shill for extreme special interests. If so, they win in a landslide in 2020 and everybody comes out ahead.
Both parties have cancer. Will take a sea change to cure it.

I forget...did he say this before or after he imprisoned over 100,000 people based on their ancestry, including 30,000 children, by executive order?
On a side note, Trump didn't exactly disavow that practice...
"I would have had to be there at the time to tell you, to give you a proper answer," he told the magazine. "I certainly hate the concept of it. But I would have had to be there at the time to give you a proper answer." - Trump, when asked if he would've supported Japanese-American internment camps
You have to give it to the republicans. In one election, the voters purged a few dozen establishment people out of the primaries, out of the RNC, and out of the convention. And while they are butthurt, they wont move the needle one iota in the elections.
The demwits, on the other hand, are ruled by the establishment. And their stupid actions is moving the needle in the wrong direction for them.

I'm not a Trump supporter. The point was there is no "juxtaposition."

Yet, FDR is deified by Democrats. So that means that internment - or "concentration camps" as FDR called them himself - aren't really a deal-breaker for Dems.
Don't get me wrong, I think Elmets was a great speech-writer at the time..
But he's really comparing a "wall" that divided what should have been one country with the illegal immigration situation between the US and Latin America?
Quote:While Hillary holds many policy positions differ from my own, her qualifications are indisputable.
Thatwas the line where he completely lost me... as we've pointed out in the past.. Her qualifications are NOT indisputable.
And then he makes his first part of his speech iffy:
part 1: "I have not just voted Republican"
part 2: 'I will vote for a Democrat for the first time'
Unless he's saying he's voted for third party candidates in the past (Possible but I find it highly unlikely). (Perot: Maybe.)
Funny thing is, Trump's never (to my knowledge) compared himself to Reagan, nor should he.. He might share some of the same beliefs as Reagan did, but I've never heard him say anything of the sort.

That's what happens when you give the Democrats 2 terms as president and a Senate and House majority. Time to turn back that clock as we did the nuclear clock (if you are old enough to remember-countdown to destruction).
