RE: VA Spent $20million on ART
I have to ask, is the VA's budget determined by the Executive or Legislative Branch. Not trying to stir the pot, I just want to know.

Both. Executive branch submits the VA budget and the House approves it.

The VA is a cabinet level agency

You can't make this up...so they spent a ton of $$ on art at a facility that only serves blind vets.

It's like a vignette straight out of a Kurt Vonnegut novel.

We get referrals from a VA urologist all the time to do prostate biopsies to look for cancer because the VA didn't have a working ultrasound machine. I guarantee you an ultrasound machine costs a lot less than any of this art.

All federal budgets are developed within the specific department. The total amount is submitted by the administration to Congress for approval. Congress approves the total but has no ability to reach to the line item level.

If a budget is not passed, which happened in every year that the Democrats controlled the Senate, then the previous year's amount is adjusted by some percentage.

Sorry, I missed this thread originally, but the VA was wrong to waste this money on art.

However, I'm sure the original poster just "missed" this part too when blaming all this on the current (at the time) administration, right?

Quote:A new report alleges that the Department of Veterans Affairs spent $20 million between 2004 and 2014 on costly artwork.

It was brought up due to a comment by another poster in another thread.

But hey, feel free to report my "offense" to the mods. I'm sure they have plenty of time on their hands. 03-wink

RE: VA Spent $20million on ART
So, by bringing up an old post, you are proving/agreeing that the Obama administration wasted $16million on art? And your point is what, other than you didnt care about waste when Obama was doing it?

RE: VA Spent $20million on ART
And just to be clear, so as to not say what I posted in the other thread was inaccurate; The two guys who posted in the other thread was nowhere to be found when this thread was posted? Right? So, $16million wasted on art is ok, but $30K to replace furniture that was purchased in 1967 is so horrendous.

Team over country.
